Ring Bearer Gift

Ashley&Kyle, on August 31, 2015 at 4:06 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 18

Help! The wedding is in three and a half weeks and we are no closer to knowing what to get our ring bearer than we were when we got engaged two years ago!!

He's FH's little brother and he's two. Ideas?? I'd like to get him something more than just any old toy he'd get for a birthday or something.

I'm thinking about getting a savings bond... and of course some fun little toys for him that day.

I have no idea what we're getting him either. I had 1 brother back out with his 2 kids, so we asked FH's brother if he was still coming with his son and he said yes. So as of right now we still have 1 ring bearer lol. Speaking of savings bonds... The interest rate on those are extremely low. If you put in $5,000 and wait 20 years, you might be able to get $5,500 from it. I would look into something with a higher interest rate if you're looking for that sort of investment.

@Alexis, good point. Maybe we'll just give his parents some money for his savings account.

It depends on what you want to give him. A toy he wants or something that is adorable and cute for the adults. If you want to get him a toy you can ask his mom to make an early christmas wishlist for santa clause. If you want to give him a gift that is inexpensive then I think any random toy from toysurus would be sufficient.

We'll probably end up with a toy that he'll like, but I would have liked to find a compromise and find him something specific to ring bearers.... I just can't find anything anywhere

Along there idea of a savings bond, maybe buy him a share in a stock. Disney is over $100 per share, but maybe another kid/toy related company.

Eta: I would also give him a toy or something for day of. My FG niece will be 2.5 and we getting her a small tote bag (an owl), a book, and a bracelet that says either her name or flower girl on it. We might also get her a small toy or coloring book. I give her a share of disney stock for her birthday/the holidays, so probably won't give her one for being a FG.

Have you tried Etsy? There are a lot of cute handmade items like cufflinks and ties for little ring bearers. I think those would be great for your ring bearer, but he may not necessary love it.

I found a cute tumbler on Etsy that has Spider-Man and ring bearer on one side and the ring bearer's name on the other side! That and some Legos is the plan for our 3 year old god son who is our ring bearer.

My ring bearer is my 9 year old nephew and he just started getting into football and loves Larry Fitzgerald.. so we got him his very first NFL football jersey. Something non wedding related, something he'd enjoy.

I found a list online that might help for a 2 year old:

    1. viewmasters- keeps them busy when you need them to be....

    2. lift the flapbooks - you know with elmo and other characters...

    3. color wonder products- love that they only work on paper and not anywhere else

    4. mr potato head

    5. little kids bubble tumblers- no spill bubbles with wand

    6. puzzles

    7. sit n spins

    8. playdough with tools

    9. little toys like Mcdonald promos ---sesame,disney characters etc..

    10. doctor kits

Ourgeekywedding2015, I may end up copying that if I can find a cup that would work for him. He loves Cars and the Hulk Smiley smile

We got our ring bearers mini baseball bats laser engraved with Ring Bearer - Name - Wedding date. Showed their parents this weekend who flipped--they loved them. We have a couple small things and I want to load up a bag full of fun sugary snacks that'll drive their parents crazy, hah.

So our ring bearer is going to be 1 year and 8 months when we get married.

We decided to get him a Build-A-Bear bear... One of their $12 ones and we dressed him up in a suit, as well as recorded a message to him with our voices. We bought it when they were having a sale (I think?) - it came out to around $25 and the bear is super soft. We are also buying him his little suit/renting his little tux (it all depends on how big he is -- the suit comes in smaller sizes while the smallest tux is either 2T or 3T).

ETA: I just looked on their website and they have a Hulk Bear.. as well as a stuffed car (not Cars though). They also have Hulk hands - so you could get a regular stuffed animal and the Hulk hands..

I asked his mom who his favorite superhero was. He likes Superman, so I made him a tote bag (the whole BP got totes) with the Superman logo on it. I put a wedding activity book, crayons, a Pez dispenser (kids LOVE Pez) a couple of those Capri Sun Roarin Waters juice bags (they are flavored water-so they wouldn't stain if he spilled). It was about $10. He thought it was awesome, and like most kids, thought the Pez dispenser was a better gift than any engraved thing from Etsy.

Honestly, I'd ask his parents. I was all set to get my 3 and 5-year old niece/flower girls a few presents along the toy/book line of thought and my sister surprised me by saying she thought they'd really like jewelry. And she was right. They loved them!

We did personalized books with either names and details in the story. FG got Disney princesses and RB got Spiderman! We got them off of Disney.com.

Ours were a little older but its something nice to have and we inscribed it as well!

I would get him something sentimental, more for his parents than him. We got our ring bearer a mini baseball bat that was personalized. We also got him a toy he would actually appreciate since sentimental things aren't exactly "fun" for young kids haha.

In addition to an activity kit (there are several options to print yourself from Etsy, some on Amazon, etc), I am giving them (two ring bearers, no flower girl) a double picture frame with a pre-made mat on one side that says, "The only thing better than having you as my Nephew is having you in my wedding as my ring bearer. Love Aunt Kimi 8.13.2016"
