Right side bride?

Talysa, on August 11, 2017 at 12:45 PM

I want to stand on the right side during the ceremony, instead of FH, for completely vain reasons. As a wedding guest would you find it strange to see the bride on the right?

I honestly just realized that i stood on the left and that that's the typical way...i didn't even think about it. our officiant basically just told us what to do and we listened because we loved him! i'd say do whatever makes you comfortable. in hindsight i wish i'd stood on the right because i had a blingy hairpiece on and the left side was way prettier, luckily it got captured in photos...

After going to a few weddings and also after watching so many weddings on the show Four Weddings, I saw that it truly doesn't matter. A nice little detail I read on another post is that sometimes the parents of the bride and groom would sit on opposite sides to where they're standing so that the parents are able to see their son/daugther's face and not their backs. Thought that was a neat idea too.

Mrs. Fall Bride sorry! I wasn't saying it was wrong just different than what I've seen. I love that in Jewish weddings that's the norm. The biblical significance is beautiful!

Not at all, but that is also a tradition in Jewish weddings, so that's what I'll be doing

It would take a min to adjust since not used to it but not an issue at all. I don't even understand why one stands on one side and one on another....

@MrsFallBride I always assumed that passage to mean the opposite. The bride should stand on the left side of the congregation because it is the (religious figures) right side while facing the congregation.

I'm standing on the right. The outdoor ceremony space doesn't have a traditional path through the guests and I didn't want FH's back to me when I walked in.

I think you can stand on whatever side you want to stand on. I don't think anyone cares which side you are on, as long as they can celebrate with you. We have two brides at our wedding SO we get to pick our favorite side!

I did it b/c I have scars on the right side of my face, and that is the side I wear my hair down. I didn't give AF.

I spent $7k for photo and video, you WILL catch my good side.

I had no idea there was a norm tbh. Ask me which side the bride and groom stood on at any wedding I've been too and I'll have a 50% chance of guessing correctly.

Dooo ittttt! I personally don't think I would ever notice it as a guest. If I did, it would be a nice change compared to all the others being on the left side.

I think I would notice it at first because it is not the norm, but if that side looks better then go for it!

Literally do whatever you want. If this, for some stupid reason, becomes the only gripe of your guests ... I'd say you did a good job.
