Rehearsal Dinner at Destination Wedding

Mamie (mother of the groom), on August 30, 2017 at 6:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

My son is getting married in Savannah and all the guests will be from out of town. Any ideas for an informal rehearsal dinner/welcome party which will include all the guests?

No ideas but I love Savannah! Check out the vendors tab for help with a restaurant/location for the RD.

Just a thought; inviting all the guests to a party before the wedding is basically like having a second wedding. It's a little grandstandy, and it's really not what a rehearsal dinner is for.

What do the couple want to do?

I think including all guests is too much- in my opinion that's like have 2 weddings.

With that said- does the hotel y'all are staying in have any facilities? Or perhaps a casual restaurant around the venue or hotel? Perhaps a local pizza joint? I apologize I don't know savannah- but I bet the vendor tab, Pinterest, the hotel or venue could make some suggestions.

I got married in Savannah at Vic's in the River. Our rehearsal dinner/welcome was at Skyler's. All of our guest were from out of town as well, we had a smaller wedding though (62 guest). My mother in law hosted the rehearsal for 50 guest which was basically all of our family members and the Bridal party. She did this not only because of distance but also because most of the guest hadn't met before so this allowed that all to happen before the wedding itself.

You might want to Checkout Churchill's pub, we toured the venue and it had a great laid back feeling to it and hey have multiple spaces.

Thanks for all your helpful comments. The reason the bride and groom requested a welcome party including everyone is because guests are travelling such a distance to attend the wedding.

We are doing an informal welcome dinner. Nothing fancy, 6-8pm drinks and pizza out on the patio of our venue.

We're doing an informal Happy Hour as a way to greet our OOT guests. We are hosting a welcome family dinner the night before which includes all those in the wedding party so that's our "rehearsal dinner".
