Who else knew about this and why didn't you tell me?! LOL

I honestly thought that everyone knew this. I didn't know about the ribbon breaking being the number of kids a couple will have. (But have heard that how ever mom responds to the gifts at her shower is how she sounded when getting pregnant. LOL)

I thought it was something just my family did until my shower host and BMs mentioned it. My girls took the ribbons home and i can't wait to see what they come up with.

I haven't seen this in years, honestly, but if they want to do it, let them go wild!

We did that for my first wedding many many years ago and it looked cute in our photos we took at our rehearsal. I had no idea it was still done! I guess stuff comes back in fashion. I say go for it!

My BMs did this at my shower. Most of the ribbons are purple (BB&B) but I'm sure it will look great.

Yes its still done. I did this for my best friend's wedding in May and she is doing this for my wedding as well. I thought everyone did this?

And for every ribbon you break... counts as how many kids you and your FH will have. I was EXTRA careful at my shower!!!

I had never heard of this before until I was in a wedding this past April and the MOH had me (I was a bridesmaid) help her collect and assemble the "bouquet" at the shower. The bride forgot it on the rehearsal, but oh well! I guess it's a real thing, but I hadn't heard of it before - everyone made it seem like I was the only one! I am hoping my own bridesmaids do this for me - it was super cute.

My godsister didn't know about this until I started putting hers together at her shower. Her mom knew but I don't think her FMIL knew about it. Is it a mostly southern thing?

We did this for my sister and my SIL, but they both forgot to bring it to the rehearsal... fail. I am hoping I can remember mine!

I also thought everyone did this. Mine was awesome because my MOH that did it was an art major in college. Smiley laugh

It's totally a thing, but I wonder if it's maybe not as common or popular as it once was given that it seems that gifts in bags with tissue seem to be more popular than actual wrapping paper with ribbon and bows when given?

@Summer....you totally have a point there. I really like the way BBB wraps their gifts with the purple tulle bows!

The tissue paper can always be used to make flowers. My girls saved some tissue paper to do that with.

I had it done, but forgot it at home for the rehearsal. Now it sits in my closet because I can't figure out if I am supposed to keep it.

I've never been to a rehearsal where this wasn't done! I guess it's a big thing in NJ, to me it's a given!
