Rehearsal bouquet?

Monica SC, on September 5, 2015 at 3:28 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 44

My friends at the shower saved all the ribbons and bows from my gifts so my MOH can make a rehearsal bouquet. I told her about this and she got excited and apparently knew all about this. I have been to tons of weddings, been in lots and attended the rehearsals and I have never seen or heard of this. Everyone at the shower knew about it too!

Who else knew about this and why didn't you tell me?! LOL

I honestly didn't know that brides did this anymore. Back in the day, it was very common. I guess it still is.

Oh gosh! I'm slacking on my duties... It is often a tradition to use ribbons and bows from the shower for the bride's rehearsal bouquet. ;-)

@Sparkles - Every wedding I've been in, that's what happened! We'd always make this intricate bouquet and then forget to bring it to the rehearsal.

Yup, did this. My mom told my BMs about it at my shower and they saved them all and made them into a bouquet.

This is usual in our circle. I finally get to be the one with the ribbon and bow bouquet.

It might vary based on where you are or your culture. I absolutely saved my ribbons. It's also said that the number of ribbons you break while unwrapping your packages is the number of kids you'll have. I used to work in customer service at a department store and we had to wrap packages. A lady once came in to have her daughters bridal shower gift wrapped and told me she really wanted grandkids so could I please try to make it so it would break? I wrapped the bow super tight and taped it down in a few places. I figured there was no way to open that box without breaking or cutting that ribbon! It's just a silly superstition but it made the lady happy.

I think it depends on the person. I was in charge of making the "bouquet" for my best friend during the shower (which was HILARIOUS because I am probably the least crafty...it became quite the joke!!). Thankfully, her Mom took it home and doctored it a bit before the rehearsal. I TOTALLY plan on doing that! Its one of the fun traditions Smiley smile

Yep! Had no idea this was a thing until my FMIL started collecting all the ribbons at my shower! I think it's such a cute idea.

My MOH is NOT crafty at all... I can't wait to see what she comes up with. I shall have to take pictures. Smiley smile

Yes! I first heard about this when my friend got married (and had her shower) in 2013. For my shower, we collected the bows and one of my BMs made it into a bouquet. Now it is just sitting in my wedding room... Here is to remembering it the day of the rehearsal!

I also have been married forever (17th anniversary was yesterday....) and this was common back when I got married. Perhaps it's going out of style?

We did this at my shower. We had a paper plate with a hole cut in the middle, some tulle and ribbon was put through and tied to make a "stem" and the rest of the bows and ribbons were attached to the paper plate to make my rehearsal bouquet. It isn't anything fancy, but I don't think it is really mean to be. I think it looks cute since all my attendees of the shower knew our wedding colors and it is made up of different shades of purple. It was also cool to watch it grow as I opened gifts.
