Reception Food.....tacky??

Hi Ladies...so Im usually not the one to worry about what others think, but my FH and I decided to have bar-b-q at the reception. I really like the idea, but havent gone forward with it and cant really set it in stone because I feel like it will be perceived as tacky. Our wedding is at 2:00 i the afternoon and the reception will follow no later that 4:00....its not formal but I still have a little something holding me back. What do you guys think? I need blunt honesty here, I dont want to wait until the day of to realize I should have spoken up or changed the menu. Thanks

Our original plan was to have our reception on an old farm that now caters to weddings and special events...and since it was not going to be a formal wedding at first, we were going to do a BBQ as well. We even did taste testing and almost set in stone...and then i found my dress and it was not a "Farm" wedding dress so we changed our direction...but its a way to have a FUN!!!! party wedding

Thanks Ladies for all your input! I can not express how much it means to me. I feel so much better about going this route now. I think we will go with BBQ chicken, sliced beef, and maybe sliced or pulled pork!! For the sides, mac and cheese, salad, green beans or something similar....gotta work out all the details! Yay....feelin good

I think a BBQ reception would be great. Def. not tacky in my book (but you are talking to a Texas Girl who loves her BBQ).

I am going to make bunwitches and cut them up and put in bread bags. I am making baked beans and potato, pasta also. I am buying disposable cups with screw on lids to fill with each type of food. I will have corn on the cob. Indivisible butters on the tables. Cake and heart cupcakes. Lemonade, sweet tea and I have to have my Dr. pepper. I am going to have the reception in the house in the sun room. Decorate it and have the food set up in the kitchen the cake and cupcakes in the dining room. I want to buy baskets for the 4 different sandwiches and a couple to put the other things in. My fb wants ice cream sandwiches which will be in the freezer. We will be married outside. My 4 year granddaughter will be the flower girl and her twin brother will hold my hand as I walk up to my guy. I am going to make wrist corsages one for me and for my 2 sisters. And Lucy. Boutaniers for my son his son and him and Jack. I found the princess dress for Lu and will get Jack a little suit. I was married at 20 and this time I am going to make it how I want it. Do what you want honey. When you look back you will trasure how it was. Get those tinfoil big pans a can of sterno to keep warm and there you are. Good luck. It’s not the party it’s you and your man.
