Realistically how much time do you need to rent a suit?

Danielle, on June 6, 2015 at 6:42 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

Tux shop says to come in this month, FH doesn't want to get fitted yet. He was recently on some medication that put on some weight. Anyone go closer to the big day or pick out stuff for the rest of the party to get fitted?

My first wedding I think my ex got it the day before. (Small resort wedding no bridal party, basic tux)

I think this varies depending on the store. All our groomsmen (except the ring bearer and bell ringer) were fitted in April. The store recommended waiting until 21-30 days before the wedding for the younger children because of potential growth spurts. If needed the store would try to do fittings closer to the wedding but there would be an additional rush fee.

At a sibling's wedding, the father-of-the-bride (who traveled from another country to the wedding and got his fitting during the week of the wedding) ended up with a tux with a broken zipper and a missing jacket button. Since it had been fitted so close to the wedding, they didn't expect a problem--so they didn't discover it until a couple of hours before the wedding.

They had to pin him into the pants with safety pins--and try to find a button around the house that would replace the missing one. It was a disaster.

I would suggest that you rent it ahead of time-make sure BEFORE you leave the store that everything is there and working!

Depends on the shop. FH went last week, and was told one month would be plenty of time. ETA : Were using Jims Formal Wear. It's most convenient for all the GM.

We went in around early March and picked out the one we wanted and then back in April to get measurements.

Depends on the store... Most of groomsmen got fitted in the last few weeks, but they could technically go in up to a few days before cuz the warehouse is a few towns over
