Rain on your wedding day

Kristy, on May 9, 2017 at 3:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

Ok WW... I just need to hear some positive stories about people who were totally rained on the day of their wedding.

Yes we have a back up inside location and such, but I'm still disappointed...trying to get it all out of my system before Saturday so I can have fun and keep a positive attitude the day of. I get to marry my best friend, so I know I'll be happy at the end of all of it.

As of today they are calling for 100% chance of rain all day, over 2 inches of rain and temps in the mid 50s. I need to hear something other then "it's good luck".

100% chance on my wedding day and it wasn't true! Yes it did rain, but not the entire day! Our ceremony was moved inside and while it was sad our indoor option wasn't too bad at all. We got all our pictures done outside though! Our photographer became a weather man and was constantly checking the radar so whenever there was a dry moment we took advantage of it! At the end of the day I was on such a wedding high that the rain didn't even bother me. Stop looking at the weather, you can't change it and it will really bum you out. For a week my stomach was in knots because it said thunderstorms, but the day of I was just so excited! Our pictures came out beautiful and no one even cared that my day didn't go as "planned"

This may not be quite what you're hoping to hear, but we were supposed to have rain for our entire wedding day. It stormed the night before, and it was cloudy during our outdoor ceremony but it didn't rain until just after our reception! We had a back up plan but were fortunate enough to not have to use it. There is always the chance that the forecast will change, so try to be optimistic! Don't watch the forecast constantly like I did, because it will only stress you out more. But if it does rain, know that you will still have an absolutely beautiful day! You are marrying the love of your life, you will look stunning and even if everything doesn't go exactly as planned, it will still be amazing!

It's going to be fine, but you are going to have a ton of your guests tell you it's good luck Smiley smile

You can't change the weather, so all you can do is be prepared, and stay focused on the wedding day! At the end of the day you'll still be married, and all of your guests will still be there to celebrate the two of you, so make the best of it!

Regardless of the rain, you will be marrying your best friend. It poured on my wedding day but kissing my husband made me forget about it.

Back in '88, my parents, had rain, snow and sun! They say it's good luck to have rain! And my parents have been married 29 years. Smiley smile

I live in the DMV as well, and I'm having my E-pics this weekend (not comparing the importance to your wedding day photos) but I went on pinterest and looked up rainy day photos, and they are so cute! Lots of great options.

Also, I've been checking the weather every day and each day, it changes. Two days ago, Saturday was 100%, yesterday it was 40%, today it's 70% in the morning and none in the afternoon. Who knows! Stay positive, it will all work out.

Get those cute clear umbrellas! Or cute ones in general. Some of my favorite pics from seeing weddings are bride and groom out in the rain!

It IS good luck! We got rained on during our ceremony, and it was awesome. We look back and laugh. Our pastor stood there holding a big purple umbrella. xP

We had rain on our wedding day. I was so bummed at first but it wasn't that bad. The worst part of the day was the drive from the reception venue to the hotel, but the actual events of the wedding went off without a hitch. There was a HUGE storm the night before and we even had a power outage during cocktail hour, but everything worked out perfectly despite this! It let up for some time while we did our couples photos which was great. It actually ended up making the photos so beautiful because the light is very soft and everything green (trees, grass, moss, etc.) stands out like crazy and it's gorgeous in photos. I was a little sad we wouldn't get those "golden hour" photos but honestly the photos we have are so beautiful despite the weather! We also got some cute umbrella photos. You can truly get some great photos in the rain, look up "rainy day wedding" on Pinterest.

Also, I would suggest asking your photographer their plan for photos in the rain, this will help to ease your mind to know there's a plan in place and reassure you that the pros you hired know what they're doing rain or shine. The ONLY downside was that my curls fell out a bit because of the dampness in the air, so maybe just carry a mini curling iron in your purse if you plan to wear your hair down lol. Oh, also, make sure someone has a towel for you in case your dress gets wet! Mine did, and luckily my DOC had a towel in her car to dry me off!

Wwlynnie is being modest. Her wedding was stormed and lost power.

She seriously had a crazy storm situation. Her doc was like an mvp and handled it.

I got married this past Saturday. My ceremony was scheduled for 6pm. At 5:55pm it started raining. I moved my ceremony indoors (professional vendors & a back up plan). It rained the whole time my ceremony took place indoors. The rain stopped when my ceremony did and the sun came out for the remainder of the evening with a beautiful sun set.

I married the man who has my heart. The rain did not/does not change that.

We were fortunate enough to get all of our pics outdoors before the rain came. (First look, group shots, and family).

My guest were appreciative that I put their comfort above my desire for that gorgeous outdoor ceremony. All your guest will talk about is how beautiful your ceremony is and how well you hosted.

    Good Luck!

Photographers often say cloudy weather is better for photographing, and the one sneak peek pic we've gotten looks amazing! Don't let rain get you down!

Thanks all. I do have a great DOC who I know has it under control. I'm still holding out a little hope we might get a break at some point.... the venue gardens are so pretty and I feel that was one of my favorite parts of the location so I'm just bummed but I know in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal.

By Saturday night I'm sure it won't matter and I'll have a great time. But the weatherman actually said the words "worse weather this spring" and "miserable, nasty day"... just got me in a sad mood.

And yes I have told my photographer to research some good rainy day shots.
