Question about Picking Up My Dress

Rachel W., on April 29, 2012 at 8:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

So when should I do it? I get married May 27, and I need to decide. I don't know if I should go the week prior or give it 2 weeks in case I need alterations....

I don't think I'll need any, but just in case...

What do you think or when did you pick up your dress?

I got my dress through Davids Bridal and they required the dress to be picked up in a certain amount of time. I think it was something like I had to pick it up in 2-4 weeks of them recieving it. Which mean't I had my dress a couple months before my wedding.

I would probably get it in the next week or so. Gives you time to try it on and be SURE you don't need any alterations and then it can always be steamed/pressed before the wedding.

I am not exactly sure what you mean. I got my dress like forever ago and then took it in for alterations in Febuary. Then I picked up mine like a few weeks before. I didn't need any more alterations but I think it's best just in case.

Only thing I had to keep it from getting wrinkled. They steamed it before I took it home. I put in the bag for the ride home, then took it out. I left it out of the bag until the day of and it went back to the bag again. Just had to be careful not to leave it i the bag too long.

My dress shop does the alterations for me - they were included in the price. So I had my last fitting in mid-April and it fit. So she said to come pick it up, we would try it on once more to make sure it fit. It should be ready to go once I pick it up.

Maybe I'll go 2 weeks before the wedding. I can check the fit one last time, and then there's time to have it cleaned (if need be - she's supposed to have it pressed and cleaned for me too).

I will have to take it to my mother's or aunt's house then, in the meantime. I can't leave it out of the bag here. I have a dog and a cat, and they shed all over the place. PLus I don't want FH to see it.

Date Twin... I am picking my dress up 3 days before the wedding.. 1. my alterations lady said that I will have a last fit, 5 days before the wedding, and she will make sure that its all said and done 3 days before... 2. I am doing this late also because i do not want FH to see the wedding gown, and once I pick it up it will be all steamed and I have to store it somewhere were my train can hang freely and not be all bunched up in the bag.
