Puerto Rico Destination Wedding

Apryl Michele, on October 23, 2017 at 1:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 28

My FH and I have decided to continue planning our destination wedding in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico in May 2018.

A couple of our vendors reached out to us and they are up and running, limited for now. My main concern was that they were ok (you get pretty close through email/skype/facetime/phone when planning a wedding) and I was so worried. Some of my friends are concerned about my decision to stick with our Puerto Rico destination...but we want to help as much as possible and what better way to start a marriage...by helping others and supporting their business during this difficult time Smiley smile

Are there any other brides that had planned to get married in Puerto Rico? If so, are you keeping your date? What are your thoughts?

You are taking quite a risk although I commend you for wanting to help with your business.

I hope it works out for you.

I agree with @LB, I hope everything goes relatively smoothly for you.

I would suggest wedding insurance if you don't have any already.

    Thank you!!

We purchased wedding insurance prior to hurricane Maria (our venue required it) -- so we do have it just in case.

But--oddly enough our venue (Villa Loma Sol in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico) is the only vendor I haven't yet heard from...but I think that is due to much more important concerns for them at this time...which I completely understand.

We decided to still get married in PR!

Our venue is up and running and the country needs tourists and business more than ever. I have high hopes they will be back to the beautiful island we all know and love.

My wedding is December 1, 2018

    =)

We are also planning to get marry there on 06/16/18 at the Oceano. Vendors assured us that they were in good standing, but I'm worried about the surrounding areas. My guest and I were looking forward to doing activities outside of the resort.

Recently got engaged and Puerto Rico is the only place I want to have my wedding. My FH and I both have roots there and we figured if we’re going to spend a significant amount of money we’d prefer to help a community in need.

Hello there! My hubby-to-be and I will be getting married in 44 days in Guanica, Puerto Rico at the Copamarina resort. A very small wedding will occur on the beach but we are doing a 10 day trip all over Puerto Rico before the wedding. All of the hotels and places we will stay are up and running. I am in total agreement with you Apryl, we just want to help businesses in Puerto Rico and show everyone that little hurricanes will NOT bring down the beautiful island of Puerto Rico or its amazing residents!!

Love this! We will be in arriving in San Juan on April 30 and exploring Old San Juan for a few days before our wedding at Hacienda Siesta Alegre on May 5th. Most of our guests are staying at the Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort. We are also honeymooning in Puerto Rico at the Horned Dorset Primavera! I cannot wait. I heard the the Copamarina Resort is absolutely breathtaking!! Congratulations Smiley heart

Mine is May 19th in Cataño, Salòn Rebecca. You will be surprise of how many weddings had happen in PR after the hurricane. Look for #puertoricoweddings and you will see recent photos. Even restaurants and tourism places are up and running. I think the best thing is having a coordinador to help with vendors.

Our wedding is in San Juan, PR on August 3, 2018. My grandmother refuses to come because of her fear of the damages. However, our catering manager assured us that our venue is still in good standing. My uncle is in the army and was sent down there to help out after the hurricane and let me know that our venue was just fine. I also agree with helping them bring in money with our tourism. I would love to see pictures from your wedding! I really need help with the marriage license process. If you have any suggestions, please lmk! (:
