PSA: Posting pictures on Facebook

So I just went to post my wedding pictures on Facebook. I was able to post about 150 before Facebook got mad at me and made me stop. I didn't even know this was a thing! I can't upload pics/tag people/add captions.

ETA: these were in an album, not uploaded one at a time.

Figured I'd share it here for everyone's future knowledge. This is what FB told me...

" Facebook has policies in place to stop behavior that other people may find annoying or abusive. We've determined that you used a feature in a way that could be considered abusive, even if you didn't mean to.

A few things to keep in mind about your block:

Blocks are temporary and can last a few hours or a few days

We can't lift this block for any reason

To keep from getting blocked again, please slow down or stop this behavior (ex: send fewer messages each day, only tag people in photos they're actually in). Otherwise, your account could be permanently disabled."

SO MAD. RAWR.

"Send fewer messages each day."

Sheesh how many do you have to send to get that message? I average about 1500/day because my fiance is deployed!

Like I said, apparently posting wedding pics is more annoying than unwanted buzzfeed links and other dumb ads I have to sift through.

Hmmm. Perhaps it's because you posted them one-by-one, rather than in an album? You didn't specify, so I'm speculating. Any repetitive behavior on FB that passes a certain limit can be grounds for a block. I got blocked last year for posting a workout video that had a copyrighted song in it (it got removed the first time and I didn't understand why, so I did it again -- boom, blocked from posting videos for 5 days).

It's a lot of work to go through for 3 days of fame. I'd host them on a personal blog or photo sharing page instead, where you can invite friends.

My wedding album on FB is 174 pictures. I uploaded them all at the same time with no issues

Yeah I uploaded over 200 photos in my wedding album and didn't get blocked, so I'm going to guess that you're doing it one at a time and sharing them, which is obnoxious and a good reason for blocking

I agree with Heather and KM. If you organize them into albums you shouldn't have an issue. I posted 187 professional wedding pictures and shortly after that I posted 342 pictures from our honeymoon and didn't have any issues with Facebook.

I have posted several times hundreds of photos at one time but they all were in an album, no issues encountered. I think I had that happen to me once before but it was so long ago I can't remember why.

I was posting them in an album, I promise. If someone posted that many pictures one at a time, I would be annoyed as well. Two people actually commented on my status about this saying it's happened to them before as well. Weird.

I wanna know WTF Jay F. meant.

3 days of fame?

Is he implying that if you post pictures on facebook to share to friends you're vying for attention, and instead create a separate website you have to invite people to? If so, that's a weird stance for a ... photographer, to take.
