PSA: Flagging non-vios is Flagging Abuse...

...and is against the Community Guidelines.

You cannot flag a post because:

-You disagree with it

-You don't like it

-You become butthurt by it

-You are offended by it

-You think it is "harsh," "mean," or "rude"

-There is no name calling, personal attacks (and no, telling someone their idea sucks does not qualify), stalking, etc

Posts to flag:

-Advertising

-Posts that include name calling (again, as the Mods have stated many times, calling an IDEA stupid is okay, calling a PERSON stupid is NOT!)

-posts that are personal attacks

-posts that tell someone not to post/how to post

-posts that tell people to leave

-"Bye Felicia" posts, UNLESS they are directed to someone who has announced they are leaving

-posts that announce the person is leaving

Flagging non-vio posts is a strikeable offense, so keep that in mind.

Regulars: Feel free to email mods at community@weddingwire.com about the unreasonable flags, as they CAN see who has done the flagging and take action, esp. on serials.

So telling someone to get a life actually is against the terms of service......

And designating yourself some kind of forum vigilante to dole out punishment to someone under the guise of "giving a taste of your own medicine" is a questionable use of time. It seems something has gotten under your skin and you're quite defensive.

By my calculations, someone has been flagged enough for true violations to be banned for three weeks...Just sayin'

And cursing. WW will just end up removing the flag once they've realized you got butthurt because you didn't like curse words.

YEEEES! I also cannot stand when somebody gives bad advice on here and people flag it so it disappears. They have the right to put their ideas out there on a public forum no matter how annoying their opinion is.

@Soon2beMrs: I think most of the time those get flagged because they say something that violates guidelines in addition to the poor "advice." I don't think anyone here who has posted in support flags poor advice, BUT I imagine some of those posters probably choose to hide their own posts when they realize people aren't going to support them.

That's just as frustrating though, I agree.

I don't flag people's comments randomly. If I were to see that it's a personal attack

Or name calling I would. I get that it's brutal honesty ( learned to lay off commenting hot topics lol). Another entertaining thread lol.

I'm probably going to be attacked for asking this, but if someone buys a gift you don't need you aren't allowed to return it for cash? Am I supposed to let it collect dust in a box or am I supposed to exchange it? I only asked here because someone brought it up. If it's not appropriate to ask here please let me know. I'm older and have 2 kids so I don't get a lot of time to search these posts. Thanks!

@Grechen: If it's a duplicate or legitimately something you don't need (say they went off registry and bought you a blender, but you have a nicer one already or someone on the registry bought the one you actually wanted,) then I see nothing wrong with this. The issue is when someone purposely registers somewhere that has a cash back on returns policy for the express purpose of returning the gifts for cash, effectively making their registry a cash registry.

@MNA, Thank you so much for your response! This is truly so overwhelming for me. There's so much information here and I'm trying my best to sift through it! I can't guarantee I'll never ask a silly question, I do go goofy sometimes, but I'll try to read all the way through before I do! Thanks again!

@Grechen: We do try to be helpful here (regardless of the unpopular opinion) but we don't sugar coat and many responses can get pretty blunt. We have learned from experience that the lesson seems to be most readily learned if there is zero room for meaning interpretation rather than trying to tiptoe around the possibility of people getting sensitive about things.

If you can handle that, you'll do just fine here.
