Princess Bride Themed Wedding?

Crystal, on March 12, 2011 at 6:54 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 23

I LOVE The Princess Bride!

I don't mean a costume party by any means. I just mean little touches, like the cake toppers and such. Only a cake topper is all I can think of besides me walking down the aisle to "Storybook Love." Any other ideas?? Oh, and provide links if you can! Maybe someone can think of or find something that I just can't think of.

This site seems helpful. I especially like the idea of using buttercups as decor.

I know there is a Dread Pirate Roberts action figure. My FH wanted to use it as our caketopper. (Princess Bride is my favorite book! and FH and I met at a Halloween party where he was dressed at the Dread Pirate Roberts.)

Thanks! Those are both great ideas. I love that DPR figure. Now I just have to find a buttercup to match!

You can use a collection of Disney princess music through out the wedding day.

Brilliant! I expect my dad to use a line from Princess Bride in his toast. Little touches here and there would be great! My fiance and I met at a Halloween ballroom dance and he was dressed up as Howl from Howl's Moving Castle. So we're having Howl and Sophie cake toper figurines (die cast metal) and our first dance is to the theme. You might use the Vivaldi guitar piece that acts as a sort of theme for Princess Bride as some sort of background music for something. You could do something random and fun like labeling your tables as locations/scenes from Princess Bride. i.e. The Cliffs of Insanity, Miracle Max's, the Fire Swamp, the Thieve's forest, etc. Have fun! I love it!

My bridal party will be walking down the aisle to Storybook Love which was used in the movie.

You also might want to use a font similar to the ones in the movie poster for your invites. Haven't ever seen an exact match but, LTC Goudy Oldstyle Cursive is a really close match. Can't find it free but it's not too bad at $20 for the download: http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/lanston/ltc-goudy-oldstyle/cursive/

"marriage, marriage is what brings us here together, today" try and work that into the ceremony if you can.

You have to incorporate "as you wish" ~ that might even be a cute engraving on your wedding bands.

Andrea, I really like that labeling idea. Maybe I could use that for the tables!

OMG I love this idea, it's my fav movie of all time.

what about after being married as you and your husband walk up the aisle have your groomsmen hold swords for you to walk under like they do at military weddings.

you could have a bit of an enchanted forest theme, maybe have a tree with you and your fh initials engraved in it as decor.

you could always try and find a head piece like buttercup had.

you could use buttercup as one of your colors. here is an example of a jasmine bridal bridesmaid dress in buttercup: http://www.jasminebridal.com/J_2_1_1_1.aspx?sqno=JPN20111105&j_style_no=STYL20080821001&j_line_no=LINE20080821001&j_line_season=S

here are a few center piece ideas:

have fun with it, it's an amazing idea.

I have played "Storybook Love" for a few PB fans in the past. My favorite movie of all time! I'd love to hear what you come up with! What about peanut favors with the line "Anybody want a peanut?"

Instead of saying I do, your FH should say "as you wish"
