Potluck vs catering

My fiancé and I were discussing wedding stuff and he mentioned potluck. I don't know how to feel because while it may be cheap, it's generally looked at as tacky, requires lots of planning (don't want 3 platters of sweet potatoes no matter how good they are!) and difficult for out of towners (no...

My fiancé and I were discussing wedding stuff and he mentioned potluck. I don't know how to feel because while it may be cheap, it's generally looked at as tacky, requires lots of planning (don't want 3 platters of sweet potatoes no matter how good they are!) and difficult for out of towners (no kitchen and such) any advice?!

    Potlucks are very tacky. You run the risk of giving your guests food poisoning, or at the very least, grossing them out when they find a ton of hair in their food.

    Catering is your only answer, and you can find cheap catering anywhere. BBQ catering is pretty cheap, but really good.

    Sharon, take you catered meal and pull up a chair. You can sit with us, lol.

    Becky, you and your potluck meal can go sit next to the bathroom (for ease of egress, of course). You'll like the three other ladies sitting over there.

    Had a potluck at church.. everything was super delicious... then I went to grab some monkey bread.. it was the most perfect looking monkey bread ever... I grabbed a chunk of it and sat down. I used a fork and cut it in half.....but a nice long hair held it together.. since then (7yeats ago) I don't eat at potlucks...
