Postponed Wedding Communications?

Lidia, on April 3, 2020 at 8:27 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5
I know that many brides have had to cancel or postpone their weddings. We were supposed to get married June 13, 2020 and have had to push it back to August 29, 2020. My bridal shower was already booked and invitations were sent for April 25, 2020 but that has been postponed with no new date yet. My question is how are you guys handling the communications to your guests, both for postponed showers and the wedding itself?? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

    Divide and conquer.

I copied and pasted the same message via FB. I made phone calls. Mom sent emails. Fiance sent texts. His mom sent emails and made calls.
A friend was supposed to have a bridal shower. She made a FB event for the new date. I'd usually frown upon that, but "proper etiquette" from 2 months ago does not apply to life now.

I sent out change the date cards for our new wedding date. (was May 30th, now July 18th) however I nowhere near convinced that it will be able to happen in July.

Someone on instagram had a free downloadable PDF for change the date cards, so I used that and had them printed by walgreens. They were even 50% off, so I got 150 of them plus 150 address return labels and envelopes all for 40 bucks! I thought it was a great deal.

As far as my bridal shower, it had to be canceled, it was supposed to be March 22nd and now it is scheduled for June 6th. I may just call/text everyone about the new date rather than sending out new invites.

Good luck to you! This is such a difficult and stressful time.

    Hi Lidia,

I'm so sorry you had to postpone! If you're planning to notify your guests via email or snail mail, there are some templates here: How to Word Your Wedding Postponement Announcement. You'll see one example for what to say if you haven't selected a new date yet.

Finally, here is a glass half-full perspective piece: “My Wedding Was Postponed Due to Covid-19, but Now I Get a ‘Do-Over’” (with a link to a video at the bottom).

I'm wishing you the best of luck! eJ9d5lyBiwA7naWKa4m_0E2whrAqnI3l-LneStau
