Possibly found dress, need bra advice

Dena, on April 16, 2016 at 7:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I found a dress I love, but I'm nervous about committing to it because I feel I need the support of a bra with it. The v is quite deep (although it would be slightly less once it's ordered in my size. The problem is I'm a 34DDDD and I've never seen a strapless bra that isn't more of a balconnette style (highet cups all the way around). For those of you with large breasts who have opted for boning and added cups, what were the results like? Here's a pic for reference of added support I'll require.

I think you would be good with a front plunge bra kind of this one

    BTW your dress is beautiful!

If all other options fail, you could have a modesty panel added in the V to let you wear a normal bra.

I was going to say plunge bra as well - have you ever tried a sister size? I believe your sister size is 36DDD which lane Bryant carries and I love their plunge bras.

ETA - just noticed you mentioned strapless - but I see shoulder straps. Is the back sheer in some way that a plunge wouldn't work?

It's a gorgeous dress.i don't see why you should need a strapless? It's got straps.. You just need the plunge part!

It is sheer in the back half--i didn't post a picture because my butt is showing bc the sample size is too small. I think I will have the material in the bottom continued in the sheer part so that I can wear a regular bra--that's a good point. I'm having MAJOR "what if" anxiety...like what if I can't find a bra that plunges enough? I have a hard time finding bras, period. I am also thinking I can find someone to make me a custom bra. I'm feeling a little bit better--just having a hard time committing because there's also another dress I love that needs modifications to work!

Idk if you're open to tape....but if you can find nude colored kinesiotape, that's what I would do and what I have done in the past. It's meant to be applied to the skin, and it's elastic so works really well for taping the girls. I just recently used it for a dress with the same neckline.

It is a beautiful dress! I'm being "sewn into" my dress but I have a corseted top so it's completely different. Do you have a Lady Grace or similar store in your area? They specialize in big busts!!

The dress is gorgeous! I would chat with the person who would be doing your alterations, see what they can do as far as sewing in cups. I am a 36DD and my dress is completely backless, I was also uncertain of committing, but after a lengthy conversation with the seamstress, I am not worried at all. They can do wonders with their experience!

Loooove the dress. Weird but Kim Kardashian tapes her boobs for lift when she wears plunging with no back too. Otherwise seamstress should be able to have a solution for you if the plunging one doesn't work! What does the other dress look like? You'll def not want anxiety over boobs on the big day.

Thanks for all the suggestions and compliments. I will look into tape and a bra (would prefer a bra if possible). I am still having a hard time committing to this one vs the other one---my anxiety is rearing it's ugly head!
