Porta Potties?

So I'm getting married on my grandparent's farm in the middle of nowhere. They have to use a septic tank because the city doesn't have plumbing out that far. I don't think there's any other choice, because there's going to be about 100 guests at the wedding. If everyone used the one septic tank, the last thing I need is for it to burst..

From what my mom told me (she looked into the company), they can do "cute" pink and blue potties. Also, they can provide a portable sink.

I just don't want any of my guests to be grossed out lol.

I feel like you are looking for affirmation that this porta potty idea is a good one. It's not...your guests comfort is one of the most important things on the wedding day. I'd talk to a septic professional about pumping before and after, and seeing if it can hold the volume of people you have after not pumped.

If not, try to scrape up money for the trailer.

I probably am, but I honestly don't know what else to do without going over budget. My parents are paying for the wedding and they aren't endless money pits.

I went to a wedding that had one and found it gross, but I always think they are gross. I would spend the $1400 on a trailer one... well worth it for your guest's comfort.

Yeah, I get it I guess I just feel like this should have been a higher priority? I'm sure it will be fine though, we all survived having to use the porta potties lol. It didn't help that it was like 90 degrees and humid that day so everything felt gross!

I honestly didn't think too much about it beforehand because it was a detail that didn't cross my mind until later.

I'm hoping it won't be super hot and humid that day, but I can't guarantee it.

At least your BM are wearing short dresses! The BM in this wedding were wearing long NAVY dresses and were glistening in the sun from all the sweat.

Yea, I even put on my wedding website to try to wear short dresses and cooler clothing options. Also, no stilettos lol.

Good call! All the tables were on a dirt floor and I wish they would have mentioned that because I wouldn't have worn sandal type heels... If your wedding ceremony or reception will be on dirt (rather than grass) I would put something about that as well.

It's on grass, don't think there's any dirt or mud but there could be some around the area. Thanks for the advice!

There are high end porta potties...I think people will be relieved you did something rather than not...1-2 bathrooms for 100 people would not be fun!

Guest comfort should be priority #1. I'd cut anything you can to get the trailer bathrooms including florals, your attire, favours, stationary etc. Your guests shouldn't suffer because you didn't plan ahead. I would be very annoyed if I went to a wedding and the bride wore a pricey dress but had portapotties for the guests to use.

if you check the price between trailer bathrooms and portapotties I bet there isn't a huge difference in price anyway.

    Florals: already done

    My attire: already done

    Favors: already done

    Stationary: already done

I don't know how they'd suffer, it's just for a few hours and I'm sure they've used portable bathroom before.

I did plan ahead, but didn't think about that detail beforehand because there already are bathrooms at the farm.

My dress isn't super pricey and I'm using the portapotties too.

Okay, then I'd consider picking up extra shifts at work, finding a 2nd job, cutting back my monthly spending on non-essentials, or selling items I'm not using on eBay to get the money.

Yes, your guests suffer because portapotties are gross, stinky, and hot. If I attended a wedding with portapotties I'd probably leave shortly after dinner and would avoid drinking anything so, I wouldn't have to use them.

It sounds like you have already made your mind up though so, I'd seriously consider notifying guests beforehand via your wedding website and make the dress code extremely casual (like jeans and t-shirts).

You literally ask what we think about using porta potties and the title of your post even questions it, and then you end your post by saying "I just don't want any of my guests to be grossed out lol." Well, nearly everyone here is saying they would be grossed out. So, it doesn't matter to you? If you already plan to do this then do it but just know that most of your guests will be uncomfortable with it and probably be grossed out by it. You don't need us to validate this idea especially since it sounds like you have no other options if you can't afford nicer bathrooms. There is a post nearly every day about having a backyard wedding and the first thing people say is don't forget about the bathrooms. Bathrooms are very important.

The venue is about an hour away or more from everyone's house so I guess they're not coming

Go to the top of your screen and do a search. Type "backyard" and you'll see them. The 1st 7 are from July alone, and most of them from the last 2 weeks.

I guess I don’t spend as much time on here as you? I don’t know what you want me to say.
