Pop - up weddings Pittsburgh (or anywhere)

Amanda, on December 11, 2017 at 7:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

Does anyone have experience with Pop up weddings? They seem too good to be true.

Google it! Its like an all inclusive thing that you can pick one of the dates and you dont get a say in decor but they're super cute!! Im not sure of details so that's why im asking.

I think a venue by me does something similar. Basically a couple calls and asks if they have availability on a day like within a week or a short time and if they say yes, the couple can get married immediately (provided they have their marriage license). I don't have any experience with it though, especially not in Pittsburgh.

I mean, most people are only going to get married once. Why would you want anything out of your control?

To my knowledge they have listed pre listed dates and each one has a venue and pre made theme. They provide EVERYTHING and its for very small groups (ceremony for 20 ppl, reception for 80). You be the first one to reserve the date and thats that.

We do little weddings all the time; 6-20 guests. But our couples have a say in everything.

Knowing NOTHING about my wedding would give me so much anxiety. Kudos to those that can handle this though!!

ETA: If the ceremony is for 20 and the reception is for 80, it's a tiered wedding and not recommended etiquette wise.

You get a preview of the set up and pixtures from others. It's very nice.

In terms of decorations, I would love this because it was the thing I cared the least about. But are all vendora included? I wouldnt trust a DJ, officiant, photographer that I never met personally.

I live in Pittsburgh, and my former coworker did a pop up wedding at the waterfront pump house by the Pop Up Pittsburgh Wedding Co. i think you are allotted 30 guests maximum and its like a 2 hour affair. they provided photos, officiant, pittsburgh popcorn, cupcakes, flowers maybe?, all decor and lots of props (i think this is how this idea started), and a champagne toast for you and your guests. I believe the cost was 5k$. She was one of the first couples. You do not get to choose/personalize the options. It was very pretty, but seemed expensive for what you got, which is sort of just a supercharged cake and punch reception for 30 people. It made sense for her because she was working full time and in school, so it was a relief to not deal with planning. She did choose to host dinner and drinks in the basement of Max's Allegheny Tavern. It seemed like she could have hosted a similar even for a similar cost without using the service, so you really do pay for the convenience. That is just how it appeared to me, a total outsider, just speaking with her.

I couldn't do that. I'm too much of a type A personality. I have to do the planning and know what's going on

    I heard back from them!

"Thank you for your interest in The Pittsburgh Pop Up Wedding Co.  Our Pop Up Wedding Ceremony/Celebrations are a 90 minute all inclusive stress free styled wedding.

We include the venue, officiant, flowers, couples cake and cupcakes for guests, a champagne toast of the couple, a sparkling bar and a pop corn bar for guests, a photographer, vintage rentals and myself a stylist / wedding planner.

Normally we can allow for up to 25 guests but sometimes, depending upon the venue we can allow for a few more.

Pop Up Wedding range in price depending upon the venue - They can range from $2,900 to about 3,700.00"

I think thats a pretty great deal for ZERO planning hassle. And I've heard if the venue can fit it you can have closer to 50-60 guests and can wager more time for reception.
