Police escort instead of a limo?!?

I work for a police department as a dispatcher and used to be a reserve police officer for the same department. My father and two brothers are police officers as well. Needless to say we have a few police officers coming to our wedding. I was thinking about having My father and brothers drive myself and the small wedding party (3 BM and 3 Gm) to the reception venue after the wedding ceremony. A police escort instead of a limo. I just thought of it and haven't ran it by my FH yet (don't think he'll care) but I think it would be funny and different. What do you ladies think?

I love it! I am talking to a friend of mine who knows a bunch of bikers. FH used to ride but his bike is in pieces from an accident a long time ago and never has the money to fix it. I wanna surprise him with a motorcycle escort. I love unique ideas like this

That would be great if you get approval. In my city, local politicians are currently getting slammed for misappropriating public funds because they used police escorts for non-government/police business. Just be careful about that. Otherwise, I think it sounds perfect!!

Yeah, I think it's ok if you are footing the bill and not taking needed resources away from the city, i.e. your dad and brother have cars that are theirs and not used when they aren't working and they put the gas in the cars.

I know you can hire them for police escorts. Otherwise, you may not be able to use the marked vehicles for a wedding. I'd see what your department's regulations are- because some are super strict about that stuff. You also have to make sure the person driving doesn't have a single drink- so that's a sacrifice on their part (maybe not a big one, just saying).

And to point it out- I usually only see police escorts for funerals... Just keep that in mind, because jokes will be made.

I think it might be funny to have you and FH be driven, in the backseat of a police car. Heck, throw in the handcuffs for fun! But it would be great to take some funny pictures with!
