Still trying to fall in love with my dress.

I love mine! I didn't expect to find one at DB, but I did. It's 3 sizes bigger than my normal clothes.

I had a lot of issues prior to trying dresses on. I'm not the size I want to be due to several different medical issues going on. I have lots of issues looking at myself because I'm not what I want to be. That said... I LOVED my wedding dress. I felt like a million dollars and felt like I looked amazing. I got my dress at Davids bridal and they did an amazing job making me feel so comfortable. (I'm a size 18 in this dress). We did a dw in Florida. (I'm from Wisconsin). Don't be fooled into trying on only one or a few silhouettes! Try on all of them! I was convinced I wouldn't be able to pull off a mermaid style gown, but I looked awesome in the one I tried on! Ultimately I was more in love with the dress I ended up choosing, which is an A-line. Also, order the size that matches your largest measurement (mine was my bust for example), and alterations can take care of the rest. Good luck! Here is my dress!

I have only had one fitting, but it was just on the fly, so I didn't find anything that time. However, I am a 16/18, and I have been looking into bridal shops that specialize in plus- sized gowns. I live in the DC area, and there are some. I will say though, when I go out of town, I research plus-sized boutiques and try to schedule fittings. That way, I can see what other areas have. If I have to drive 3 hours to say yes to my dress...I'm okay with that! Lol

Like Jennifer C., I ordered a ball gown and it ended up being the same size as my street size. I have always gone up several sizes for a bridesmaid dress/pros dress. It makes me feel like it's all so arbitrary, and not worth getting hung up on. I wish you the best of luck, and really hope you have a wonderful experience.

As an aside, I really wanted a dress with sleeves but ended up really loving a strapless, which I purchased at a specialty plus size salon ( which was a great experience.) I had some concerns about being comfortable in strapless and found an ivory illusion neck/sleeves topper at DB, I tried them on together and they compliment one another so well, despite being purchased totally separately. If you love something you try on but are unsure about an aspect please ask or look around, you may be able to create a dress that is 100% what you want.

Plus size brides are gorgeous! I'm a 12/14 and felt most comfortable in a-line styles. I did love a modified a-line but found that it hugged my belly too much. Fell instantly in love with this gem. Still deciding on a belt.

I'm a 24 in regular clothes and then that's what my dress was. I got all the feelings when I put it on, it didn't matter that I have big arms or was plus size, I felt beautiful!

Just remember, the size dress they order for you is according to your largest measurement. So, they will order the size dress that fits your largest curves. Then, the dress will be taken in to fit the rest of you
