Rock your plus size! At first I had size shock when I went shopping. Then I fell in love with my dress.

I'm obviously not married yet but I can post the dress I was supposed to get I'm still in love with it! My sister snapped this while I was twirling in the dress.

Just remember bridal sizing is all over the place. In some dresses I was a 12 and in other 18-20 (mostly the sheath style and tight mermaids). I ended up going with an a line because it made me feel so hourglass-y and perfectly proportioned. Good luck with dress shopping!

The dress I said yes to! I recommend trying on different styles, get a feel for what you like. And definitely keep in mind that bridal in general is sized much smaller, some stylists more than others. I'm a street size 12-14 currently, my dress had to be ordered in a size 20 (the one in the photo was huge and it's at an 18) to accommodate my bust and waist.

I still need alterations done!

Y'all look awesome! I'm dreading the size shock aspect of shopping. I was horrified that they had to order my dress 4 sizes larger when I was a BM in my friend's wedding. I already hate my dress size, please don't increase it lol!

I have a fitting on Wed. I'll take a pic and upload it then. Bottom line is your wedding day is one of the longest days of your life. So pick something comfortable and flattering. For me I went with something light weight as I have a severe back injury and can't hold too much weight. I got enough on my own I don't need any more. And on the bright side it is really flattering on me and I don't feel like a beached whale. I'm so in love with my dress. Can't wait for you all to see it.

I was really worried about my dress size. I'm a 26 street size and my dress is actually the same size. I have a ballgown. Try not to beat yourself up too much bc you will still find one you love!

OP-I was really worried about hearing the higher size, so I decided to go into it with the idea of "this size will be higher than what's real, so just hear that number and think I am so much smaller than that, go me!". Kind of a stupid mind trick, but it definitely helped me. I hope you have a great time searching!!

Found mind at David's Bridal and I absolutely love her! They had lots of options for me to try on there. However, I do hear DB can be a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to experiences.

Bridal sizes are bananas (I'm a bridal consultant, trust me, the vary so widely). I was a street size 16 and bridal 18 in this pic. Make sure you feel you choose a dress that makes you feel 100% you. I often have plus size brides that I feel settle for gowns that fit or gowns where their problem area is hidden - all somewhat reasonable answers. But a wedding gown should make you feel like the most beautiful version of yourself.

I'm not sure where you are located but I found my dress at "Brides by Young 14 and up" and they were absolutely amazing!! They have two locations (Indiana and Illinois) def check them out!
