I purchased my dress for less than it's retail price online , after falling in love w it at Davids Bridal. I wanted a High-low dress, the dress I purchased was not "high-low" cut I was told it could easily be transformed into one. My Fiance's aunt, recommended a seamstress who owns her own dress shop across town. I went and brought photos of how I wanted my dress transformed and the lady informed me she could make it happen. I put the dress on and she comes at me with scissors and starts to cut the front layers of my dress in a upside down "U" shape. I was mortified, the dress was choppy and uneven, but she insisted she knew exactly what she was doing. She assured me that in a week my dress would be clean and perfected and ready for pick up, 3 days later I get a call that my dress is ready. I was excited to get my dress back, but when I tried it on , it looks like a 2 year old cut it, and the sewing is uneven and just horrible. My dress is destroyed! Now what do I do?

I agree with the other seamstress- that hem job is ATROCIOUS.

She owes you a new dress.

What did the seamstress say when you told her that you were unhappy with it? Can you show us the picture that you gave her as your inspiration picture?

Eta: Was this supposed to be completely done, like take it home today, or was this your first fitting? Maybe she wanted to check it for length and everything before she finished the edges? I just can't believe anybody takes that little pride in their work.

Wow I am so sorry. You need to demand the seamstress compensate you somehow but as for your day of, you might need to go off the rack. I am so so so sorry. That sounds terrible.

Looked at the pic again and I'm seriously angry for you. I see a random thread hanging down from the skirt. I would absolutely get my money for the dress back from her.

What did you tell the seamstress when you saw it afterwards? I would have left it there, and told her call me back when you fix it.

I am still grieving the loss of my Dress. I went back to the Seamstress who destroyed my dress, she reimbursed me $100 , but said she was not responsible for anything else. She said she worked very hard on my dress, and she didn't see anything wrong with my dress. When I asked her why my dress looked so choppy and not "clean" as she promised, she said she didn't have the machine needed to clean the edging of the tulle, then told me to "GET OUT OF HER SHOP".

I ordered my dress online, with my measurements and it took only one month. If you cant find someone to fix your dress , you might be able to find the kind of style you want online.

Wow. What a disgusting way to run a business. I hope you are posting reviews about her. Was the $100 a full refund?? I would start searching for a new dress.

Could this not be taken to like small claims court? $100 for a dress that I'm sure cost well more than that. She clearly had ZERO idea what she was doing. I am in shock.

ETA: I agree with Nikki. ^^ Ruin her! Blast that all over Facebook and write reviews for how terrible of a job she does. Including pics. You know things spread like wildfire on Facebook. You could prevent this from happening to other brides..

Our theme is "neon". I wanted the pink Tulle added but with an "ombre" flow.

NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPENOPE NOPE

You go back with a lawyer- if she didn't have the fucking tools do the job- she shouldn't have taken the job- anyone can see that's a hack job.

Can we see pictures of what you showed her please?

Secondly- She needs to reimburse you for the cost of the dress. She needs to make you whole.

THAT being said since she kicked you out- I would absolutely go find a new dress off the rack you can get fixed.

Because your'e going to be fighting for her a minute.

    But you need a lawyer.

    NOW. Find one.

    TOMORROW.

Get it set up- take pictures- document- and start working on it. now.
