Dedicated August 2019

please Help- venue fell through

Abigail, on June 6, 2019 at 8:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Recently, my fiance and I have left our church that I have attended all my life- which was our wedding venue. It was free for us to use, so we have not planned or budgeted for a venue cost. Since we left, we cannot use the venue. The wedding will take place in South Bend, IN. We cannot just elope or do a small wedding at someone's yard because most of my fiance's family is from out of town (there's a lot of people) and they have already purchased plane tickets and have accommodations. I have already sent out all of my invitations with the previous address on it. Anyone know any suggestions? Wedding date is August 17, 2019.

Is there any way you can resolve the issue with the church that caused you to leave? Or offer to pay them a small fee to let you continue to use it? I would think since they would have given it to you for free, they would except a small amount of money.

It's a very long story, they said we can use it but there's a lot of uncertainty about whether the church will still be around in a couple months. (VERY long story). Even if it is, I do not want to be only a couple weeks out only to have the venue close down. It's not only a matter of leaving but also the uncertainty of the availability due to other issues.

Maybe you can find other churches around the area? Community centers tend to also be cheaper

We are trying to do that now- but good to know about the community centers! I think we will just have to take the first thing that we can get at this point.

I'm sorry this is happening to you! Like PP said, explain the situation to other churches and see if they can help you!

Hey date twin. I'm sorry that you're going through this. I would definitely try reaching out to community center's or other churches in your area. I wish you the best of luck.

Are there any state parks in the area? They are always very affordable, and often beautiful. I'm getting married at one, and it was $208!

Could you possibly have the ceremony at the reception site? Our ceremony venue and reception venue are all in one. I'm not sure where you are having the reception but maybe you can work something out to have the ceremony there too. I've seen people make a ballroom set up for their ceremony then the guests go to another room for cocktail hour and the ballroom gets changed over for the reception. Best of luck to you!

Hi Abigail! Were you able to find an alternative venue for your ceremony?
