Playing parents' wedding song at my wedding?

SeaOtter, on July 30, 2013 at 1:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

Would playing our parents' wedding songs at our weddings be rude, or a sweet way to honor them?

I think its sweet, especially if your parents have a good marriage.

I have my parents' first dance song on my play list and let my DJ know (via website) the reason for adding it. I would have added my FILs song too, but it doesn't seem like they had a wedding reception.

My parents have no clue what their first dance song was. I know this because I wanted it to be the first song of the anniversary dance and they couldn't tell me.

    LAME!! lol

I think it's really sweet. FH and I are actually getting married on my parent's 28th wedding anniversary so I am going to secretly arrange with the DJ to play their song for them.

We are including both sets of parents' songs. I am super sentimental and love the idea of including their special songs into our special day.

I think my dad and I are skipping the father-daughter dance and instead I'm going to surprise my parents by dedicating their song to them at some point instead

Sweet, I wanted to play my grandparents song, but I don't want to ask my grandpa, as grandma passed away just over a year ago, and I don't want to bring it up because if her death still makes me cry, I can't imagine how he feels. They were married over 50 years.

My parents are divorced, and they got married at 16 and 18 anyway so I'm not sure they even had dancing at their "wedding"

There's not going to be any dancing at our reception, but I love my parents' (father and stepmother) song. I remember being at their wedding and seeing how in love they were and hoping to someday find that myself. I danced with my dad at his wedding to "My Girl" by the Temptations, so I was thinking of including that on my playlist as well.

Their song was "Forever's As Far As I'll Go" by Alabama and I've always loved it. Also, my dad named me after his favorite song, so I was thinking of playing that as well. "Jessica" by the Allman Brothers Band. Would that be weird?
