Most people would say the planning doesn't start until after the proposal - but that doesn't seem to be the case with millennials! Maybe it's because we're waiting longer to tie the knot, but two out of three millennials take at least one wedding planning action before getting engaged.

Did you get a head start on your wedding planning? Or did you stick to the traditional planning timeline of waiting for an official engagement first?

Traditional, I mean I daydreamed. I think this statistic is incorrect because they’re counting Pinterest as planning....

We’ve been together for 11 years so we’ve had a few hypothetical “when we get married” discussions but I didn’t think we would be getting married for a long time, but he surprised me by proposing last year.

I did some very minimal planning beforehand, like a pinterest board. We didn't start officially planning until after we were engaged.

Kind of both. We had previously talked about what we might want, but did not start planning until we actually got engaged.

Depends on what you consider “engaged,” really for us. We still haven’t done a big “proposal” but are actively planning our wedding.

A mix of both. We planned after getting engaged, however, we talked about ideas beforehand.

I've always planned and had ideas. I never 'actually' planned until I was engaged.

I've always daydreamed about my wedding. I've looked on Pinterest, Google, etc. for ideas. I've debated on weddings themes and locations. Nothing was set until this year. Now I can "officially" plan my wedding. And it's amazing! I'm enjoying all of the planning thus far!

I started ahead of time largely because we were engaged for 2 weeks 2 years ago before everything went to hell. I couldn't help it, and once I started I could help myself, even after he broke my heart back then. (we've fixed a lot of our problems, but we're still a work in progress)

Traditional. I had some ideas of what I liked, because of a friend's wedding I helped plan, but there was no cohesive theme or anything. I started planning after he proposed so he could have a say on decisions as well.

Both? I started brainstorming before the proposal but didn't plan anything until after.

I mean if I only count real legit plans and purchases/deposits and visits/appts, then I’m traditional. If you want to count the Pinterest board then no, but many many women for years have had ideas for their wedding long before the proposal.

I may have had a Pinterest board made before I proposed, but I don't actually remember. The only thing I have done since we got engaged was buying a garter, which I had delivered to his house. He's under instructions not to open it, as it's my surprise for him on the day.

Modern, we picked the date and started venue hunting/photographer hunting before the ring was on my finger.
