Place Holders Ideas

Emily, on December 20, 2019 at 4:21 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12
Hey ladies -

I’m currently looking into what I can do for seating chart/placeholders. I was thing about the below pic but it’s DIY and cheap. However, I’m not sure if it will look out of place. I need advice!
Both ceremony and reception is at the same venue and all outside. It is kind of rustic looking. Our color is sky blue/pale yellow. Our center pieces (lantern pic below), I plan on putting one of those tall fake candles in it and then have flowers spill out of it. Will the wine corks work? Do you think it will look out of place? Should I paint them our colors fully? Or should I paint the tops only?

For table numbers I was thinking about tags to put at the top of each centerpiece. Is that tacky? Help!!!

It’ll look great! My sister did something similar, her corks were just laying horizontally. And, he centerpieces we’re white and sage pumpkins with greenery.

Are you making those lanterns? They’re beautiful! I’ve been on the hunt for reasonably priced lanterns for our April wedding! Lol

Lol, I know! I don’t know how to go back and fix it.

And the lanterns were made and come with our venue! Which I’m glad because I was absolutely set on lanterns being out centerpieces and I couldn’t find them any where at a reasonable price online!
I saw some at Michaels that were decently priced. Might want to check online there!

That’s awesome! I found some from michaels online, but they were out of stock online and in store. I’ll just keep checking!

And, as far as painting the tops, I wouldn’t do it. It’s just more work for you & it’ll be beautiful enough with the centerpieces, etc. A tag with table number will also flow very well!

I think it'll look great. I've considered something like this and my venue is outside of a historic home, using lantern accents, greenery centerpieces. I wouldn't paint them and would leave them as is.

Do you have at least one other element of your wedding that is wine related? If not, the cork escort card holders might look a little disjointed. Seems that something more rustic instead of vineyard is a better fit. A few inspiration ideas...

Ooops! I reread your post... Were you asking about escort cards or placecards? I saw your cork pic and figured you were referring to escort cards.

The wine corks would look great, BUT I wouldn’t use them for an outside venue. The slightest bit o’ wind will knock them off the tables! Our outdoor local reception had this problem and we had to tape down our centerpieces, even our metal place card holders flew off, even a wine glass or two broke. 😖

I think whether the wine corks make sense is whether or not wine somehow incorporates itself into your wedding. I saw a really cute DIY where they used Ferrero Rocher chocolates as stands and a toothpick held up the names. We won't use it because we're outside and I don't want them blown over, but it's another cute DIY that looks classy because it's gold.

I like the lantern idea a lot! If you painted them just half or fully it would look nice either way, depending on your color palette. 😊 And including the table number does not have to be tacky so long as it's just written on a flimsy paper. Maybe you could paint them nicely onto the lanterns...? I like your ideas!
