Pizza and pasta?

What would you think about pizza at a wedding? I told FH I wanted to look at Italian restaurants for catering and do a salad and pasta buffet. He said if we do that he wants pizza too. My best friend said no way, this isn't a kids birthday party... which I kind of feel the same but it's his wedding...

I did find this cute sign to put at the table.

@futuremrs Our guest list is small, very close family and friends only. We have meals with these people on a regular basis. However, I did say that there will be plenty of protein and veggie options so no you wouldn't be hungry or miserable....

People seem to be missing the point that it would be ONE of the options. There would also be proteins, a few pasta options, salad and veggies. I'm not forcing anyone to eat pizza.

I say do what you want. We're having a food truck at our wedding and serving BBQ sliders and Thai chili wings and everyone I've told about the food (including our wedding planner/coordinator) is stoked. It's the best wedding food we've ever had and at a fraction of typical catering costs.

ETA: our attire is semi formal.

Based on your responses, this is obviously something you want to do. The fact that the responses have largely been negative don't seem to be dissuading you. So you might as well do what you want.

Why did you bother to ask?

I work for a pizza place and we just catered a wedding a few weeks ago! It was the first one we had ever done but the bride and groom loved it! They also had pasta and wings. Here's a picture of their set up. Everyone seemed to like it! But it wasn't a super fancy wedding either.

We have a pizza station as one of our 10 stations during cocktail hour. We are having a kid friendly wedding so we dedicated at least two stations to appease the littluns and the littluns at heart. Smiley winking

As for the main meal I wouldn't from the perspective as a host, although if I were a guest I would be so happy lol.

DO IT! Personally, I love it. I'm so sick of cookie-cutter, stock weddings. It's your wedding, make it personal to you.

I agree it's okay only as an option, and only if it is artesian (like really nice baked flatbreads, displayed nicely). Not as your only option though.

I say go for it. You can't please everyone no matter what food you choose. Do what you want.

Pizza as a late night snack is good. Main dish not so much.

If he wants pizza would he be ok with a pizza being his groom's cake ?

Are people not reading the OP's post? She did not say that pizza is the ONLY option for dinner nor that it IS the main meal. It is one of several choices she would present, along with other pastas and salad. I see nothing wrong with this for a more casual style of wedding. In fact, it would likely be a big hit especially if they are delicious artisan style pizzas. I would just suggest that there also be a protein option such as chicken piccata or Marsala which would still go along with the Italian theme.

The advice on here ALL the time is to choose Italian or BBQ as affordable catering options. It is suggested everyday. How is this any different? Just because she is offering pizza as part of several options? Makes no sense.
