Pizza and pasta?

What would you think about pizza at a wedding? I told FH I wanted to look at Italian restaurants for catering and do a salad and pasta buffet. He said if we do that he wants pizza too. My best friend said no way, this isn't a kids birthday party... which I kind of feel the same but it's his wedding...

I did find this cute sign to put at the table.

I'm surprised at some of the responses here as it seems you presented pizza as just an option. I agree with everyone suggesting it as an appetizer as it just seems like overkill to have in addition to pasta but I think pizza is totally fine if you are serving other entrees. I personally don't like pizza so I wouldn't eat much if that was the only thing served.

Future, your wedding isn't Tuesday. It deserves something more fabulous than pizza.

Do it for the apps for cocktai hour. Do pasta/salad/breads/some kind of chicken dish for dinner.

I guess Samuel hasn't been here long enough to understand that once you have one guest, it's not "YOUR DAY" any more.

Maybe do the pizza as a late night snack if you are planning to do one. Or do little pizza bites as part of the cocktail hour apps.

We're doing brick oven pizza as part of our appetizer. It's BBQ and Garden Vegetable. I don't love it for a main course.

I wouldn't want it as the meal but as a snack, totally. My FH would love pizza though lol

Pizza is not something everyone is fond of or can comfortably eat. I love pizza but my stomach doesn't agree with it. I would definitely consider having more options for your guests.

I love pizza, but for me to do it at a wedding it would have to be a casual reception and fanfreakingtastic pizza, like a place that does interesting combos. But the biggest thing as a PP said is that pizza gets cold. If you have additional options and FH really wants it, it could be one of the options. ETA: it occurs to me that some caterers must have gourmet pizza stations, like cook the pizza right there, so not so much like a kid's birthday party..

I feel like by the time I drive the 10 minutes home with my pizza it's already starting to get kind of cold and icky, so I don't see how serving pizza at a wedding would even logistically work unless it's going straight from the oven into my mouth.

Pizza bites as an app? Okay. I'll grab one or two. Pizza as an entrée because he wants pizza and it's his wedding, too? No, thank you. It reads Wednesday night, inexpensive, and is at odds with such a special occasion (because we order pizza when nobody is up to cooking beef, pork, or chicken and sides). If he loves pizza so much, order him a personal pan and feed the rest of the guests with catered meat, veggies, and starch (or be the couple who ordered pizza for their wedding). Actually, let him order a few pies in the groom's suite...but for everyone else? Hell no...and cute pinterest signs don't erase the thoughts in the guests' heads (which will be, "Pizza? I could grab that on the way home for a few bucks a slice). Just don't.

Pasta? Italian? Great. Pizza? No. It's your wedding; I mean, you're free to do what you want, but I can promise you that your guests won't appreciate your laissez-faire approach to a wedding meal, especially when they have dressed for, traveled to, and attended what they think will be a special dinner in honor of your wedding.

I watched this on the tlc show 4 weddings (the guests were so unhappy but in addition to serving her guests greasy ass looking pizza she made them wear white) that being said I feel like it could be done if you went a gourmet looking route I love pizza so not the end of the world to me but it can look cheap

No thank you. I have been to enough "youth" meetings where pizza is the go to, and I would not be super psyched to see it at a wedding reception... Honestly.

Well while it doesn't scream wedding it's not completely a horrendous idea it would just be better as a a late night snack preferably not main course

I'm not picky so I'd enjoy it. Just realize that you should keep the toppings simple and have enough food

How do you know for sure that none of your guests can't eat gluten? I just recently cut it out of my diet as an elimination type of thing to see if that makes me feel better and pretty much no one knows. Like maybe five people know. I haven't even told all of my siblings because I'm trying not to make a big deal out of it. I would be miserable and very hungry at your wedding.
