Pizza and pasta?

FutureMrsSimmons, on September 15, 2017 at 1:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 71

What would you think about pizza at a wedding? I told FH I wanted to look at Italian restaurants for catering and do a salad and pasta buffet. He said if we do that he wants pizza too. My best friend said no way, this isn't a kids birthday party... which I kind of feel the same but it's his wedding too so if he wants pizza he should have pizza. I did find this cute sign to put at the table.

Late night snack, yes. Regular meal option, no.

SiberianMama had a pizza truck come for a late night snack. Maybe that would strike FHs fancy?

Some people enjoy pizza no matter what setting, others dont. This is one of those instances where you have to "know your crowd". I know my family would flip out if I did that.

I went to a wedding that did that, with no pasta option. No one was really happy and by the time everyone ate, the pizza was cold or gone. We flew to Texas from CA and spent a considerable amount to barely get any food.

I wouldn't recommend this, unless its a late night snack option.

Nope. As hors, yep. But not for a wedding.

And just a heads up? Your pizza delivered from a local joint (no matter how fab) will not look like your pinterest-worthy pix....

We might end up doing pizza for a welcome dinner but IDK if i'd have that for the actual reception meal... Pasta and salad, yes, but I would also have a meat/chicken option.

@O&S shes my best friend. She introduced me to WW and is more of a lurker than a poster. She got married last week.

ETA: I had to go back to the posts from last week. How did I miss that?!

It's a little too informal for a wedding in my opinion. Perhaps you could do an interactive personal pizza station for your cocktail hour?

Definitely a know your crowd situation.

My family would FLIP if I did this. I do like the late night snack idea, though!

We are doing pizza but that is because it is a very laid back casual reception. We will also have breadsticks, pasta, salad, cake, and cookies. Its a know your crowd thing. My crowd wont mind but your crowd might. I should also menetion its a very small wedding (18 counting us and minster and photographer)

I'm having Italian for my wedding. We're having 4 different pasta entrees, some with chicken and shrimp, some with beef, cheese. And we'll have garlic bread, pepperoni salad, antipasto and I will have pizza. ... we're getting the catering done by an authentic Italian spot in our hometown that's super famous and everyone loves it. So I say go with whatever you and your hunny want. My hunny wanted Italian so he kinda convinced me to want them as well.

Your FH can have pizza any day of the week. This is your wedding day and your first meal as a married couple. Weddings are special and the food should match the occasion.

I had pizza as a late night snack. It came on a food truck and was awesome. Not too sure about it for dinner though. Maybe just stick to pasta for that.

Our reception is only 4 hours so I don't think we'll need to do a late night snack. We have a very small guest list and there are no gluten allergies. We will have plenty of meat veggie and pasta options so I don't see that being an issue. FH and his friends will probably be the only ones eating pizza. I'm thinking just to appease him maybe have a few pizzas, not a whole table like the picture.

I agree with PP, do it as a late night snack to include his ideas. IMO I don't think pizza is an appropriate wedding main meal.

It seems like everyone disagrees but I think if it's one option among others like pasta meatballs chicken etc, it's totally fine. It's kind of fun and unexpected
