Pictures of decorated venues where you can't hang anything??

Tyff, on December 10, 2021 at 2:51 AM Posted in Style and Décor 2 27

I am in a venue where you can't put anything on the walls or hang anything from the ceiling. The venue is a community center so there are ugly exit signs and historical photos on some of the walls.. it totally clashes with my tropical theme. I have been looking for photos of other receptions but they can all hang things and drape so I can't replicate them. Anyone have this same predicament and collected or took photos of your venues? HELP! This is a photo of someone else wedding at my venue... it looks sooo plain...

The only thing you can do is either build/rent some of the frames that you could put in front of the wall with fabric draped on them. This way you aren’t putting anything on the wall, but can’t see them either. I don’t know what they’re called, but they’re the big rectangle with legs. Lol

I was going to suggest what PP said too. Most draping companies have freestanding draping they can bring in

I’ve always found rather than try to hide things, it is easier (and less costly!) to work with them. Most tropical themed weddings contain a lot of teakwood- which, luckily, is very close in color to all the wood at your venue! I would use wooden tables and chairs- or just teakwood chairs if you are using table cloths- to tie it all in. Then use lots of tropical greenery (like monstera leaves) and bright tropical flowers to add that colorful tropical feel.

Most people won’t even notice the exit signs; but if they really bother you, you could fashion small wooden “boxes” that fit right over them. They are super easy and inexpensive to make. Just make sure you check with the venue first to ensure they will allow it and it’s not breaking any sort of fire code.

My venue did not allow me to hang or put things on its walls too.

but i left it as is because it hand a lot of nice chandeliers everywhere so i didn't really have the need to decorate.

i think in your case definitely make centerpieces that pop out in bright colors

String lights seemed like the best thing? With poles? The only thing I could think of to do w the signs was maybe to put wall divider along the large columns. I’m actually not having the meal inside (there is a whole other part by the ocean - so this room will be where the music is.. so a few tables but not as many in the photo. So more of a lounge than meals.. some large round but small round and belly bar and a lunge area ..

I’m thinking for photos of people and dancing - I guess my photographer can just make any undesirable background out of focus and right shots.. maybe it’s just me hahahaha

Yeah I did have this crazy idea of erecting tents along the wall w the columns and decorating those with lights and making the lounge seating Inside of them so it would be more intimate and cover the ugly walls.. I’m using this part of the venue for my dancing and cocktail lounge area- food tables will be outside… on the patio overlooking the ocean Pictures of decorated venues where you can't hang anything?? 6

Also, never underestimate the power of Photoshop! Your photographer can easily make those exit signs disappear in editing 😉

I was trying to go with that work with concept - I think you are absolutely right. I like the idea of spending the decor money on the wood tables to match the room- I didn't even think of that since the round tables come w the venue. I like it! I think almost every one of these photos is on my pinterest! LOL thanks so much for the idea!

I don't want to break your heart, but all the pics above are big money, and I think you wanted to save in a previous post? Pinterest plays with minds! However, you can have a lovely indoor tropical-themed wedding in various ways. If your dining will be outside, and your party inside, then I think you don't have to spend too much on lounge set-ups. You can add potted floor areca palms which are quite affordable and add hints of florals like orchids on tables. Lantern or rattan type candle lighting can make it moody and on theme. If you add white drapery as backdrop, and/or uplighting you could go for Miami tropical. Keep in mind, your guests may prob go where the bar is set-up. I had an indoor ballroom tropical wedding and had to import florals. However, tropical trees was a NY apt hobby of my fiance, so we went with it. Best wishes!

I don't have personal experience with something like this and can't say I've attended a wedding where they had the same circumstances. But, I found some ideas that might serve as inspiration for you!!

    1. Maybe you can have some sort of backdrop (you can use those plastic pvc pipes to hold fabric up) and have lighting behind the curtain. That would look nice behind your sweetheart or head table.

    2. Tall centerpieces would add some dimension to your tables and draw the focus! They look so nice and you can use baby's breath, or greenery or something less expensive.

    3. This is a ceremony space featured in this photo, but some sort of arbor might be nice when you walk in or behind your head table or something like that. It's a great way to add some decoration!

    4. What I like here is the bows on the back of the chairs!! I'm not sure what kind of chairs you're using but in this photo and several of the others the colored bow on the chair (or use a chair cover) adds a pop of color and dresses the tables up a bit. I know you couldn't add the drapery to the ceiling so just ignore that part.

    5. This picture shows a backdrop featuring a color other than white. I like the dimension that adds.

    6. I love the colored table cloths in this photo!!! You can do that with matching bows on the chairs to focus on your wedding colors.

    7. Uplighting might help make the space feel decorated!!! You can work with a DJ or someone you know to help with that. This photo also shows lights around the edge of the head table. That looks so nice!

You can utilize tall easels to display different signs or flowers throughout your wedding space. You can also potentially utilize crates or something similar and stack them to add dimension. Then you can add flowers or pictures or 2 letters for each of your first initials, etc. A ladder bookshelf is an easy thing to use too!!!

Love those ideas - I was thinking this may be cheaper than florals (photo 1) because I can buy them wholesale and since I will only have a few tables indoors the centerpieces will be cheaper- outdoors I can hang things on rafters and doing this on tables outside - also hoping this is cheaper than flowers (photo 2) Pictures of decorated venues where you can't hang anything?? 15

Love the uplighting idea! I also toyed with using a geometric backdrop to put greenery/flowers.. sounds like lighting and linen colors may be my biggest bang for the buck … I’ll be scouring big lots for Xmas lights the day after Xmas lol!

It looks like maybe you could drape greenery or something from the rails on the second level down to the first level.
