Pics please! What did you wear for civil ceremony at courthouse?

FH and I are getting legally married in a civil ceremony a couple months before our wedding this fall. I don’t want to wear my white bridal gown until my fall wedding with family and friends. If I was only having the civil ceremony then I might wear it but it seems over the top to walk around a government office building with my ruffles and train and veil! I would be kind of uncomfortable if people stared even I’d to say Congrats since I don’t like being the center of attention or conspicuous.

For brides who did both (go to to courthouse of a civil ceremony and have another wedding later) what did you wear? Or you just showed up in regular clothes? If so, what are some dressier business casual options? We’ll probably make the appointment for the morning so we can simply take the morning off and return to work afterwards.

My friend did a courthouse wedding and worse a mid length flowery type sun dress with blue heels.

We are doing a destination wedding in Mexico in two weeks. We got legally married here in Florida and I just picked a chiffon

I've been thinking about this as well and will likely buy a midi or short white dress for the courthouse ceremony. Or white with some floral pattern.
I already bought this dress because it was only $26 on final sale but honestly I'm not sure it's the look I really want. I am getting it altered but might just just save it for other occasions...

When i did it i wore a casual type white dress lol i looked insane but you get the concept of not having to go all the way out.

We got civilly married two months after our religious ceremony and I thought it would be funny to wear something rediculous. I wore a rainbow colored sweater with cats printed all over!

I would wear something simple and elegant. Nice suit dress or a simple dress that makes you feel gorgeous

Lol, I love that. Since we’re both headed back to work after our morning appointment, I can’t show up in rainbow cat sweater 🌈 🐈 but that’d be fun.

Thank you, I got it on VICI. They have a lot of pretty white lace dresses for really good prices. But expect to pay for alterations (I'm paying $89 for alterations at Nordstrom for this dress).

Thanks for sharing where you got it. Over had mostly “misses” with tailoring at Nordstrom. If it’s something simple like hemming/length it’s okay but anything even slightly more complex like adjusting the bust area, they seem to struggle with. Do you just always return to the same tailor/N location? Or any N location that’s currently closest to you?

I only just started going there for tailoring (for wedding things) and it's mainly because they have late hours (most tailors in my area close at 5 or 6 and that's not really feasible with my work schedule). So far they seem okay though *fingers crossed*
