Photo/video coverage at a small wedding

Sami, on February 8, 2022 at 4:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
Hello! My man and I are getting married at a newly restored historic house that has capacity for 75 guests. We really want video footage in addition to photography, but many of the quotes I have gotten include 2 photographers and 2 videographers. I love all of the various angles provided by multiple shooters but I’m worried our small venue will be overrun by media coverage with 4 people on site. I’ve found one vendor who does both photo and video where there are two people simultaneously switching between photo and video, but I don’t love their video editing style. Has anyone else had a similar situation? Am I overthinking this? 😆

Can you ask those vendors if they can customize their typical packages? Say you’re having a smaller wedding and you’d like 1 photographer and 1 videographer and you’d like a quote for that. That’s where I would start!

Previous post has a good point. You could also see if they would be willing to just shoot the footage and find someone else to edit it. A friend of mine is getting married and found someone to do the shooting and will either pay someone else to edit or have a family member do it!

Thank you both! The one vendor I asked about videography said there had to be two and then ghosted me when I asked about scaling back to one photographer. 😬 Maybe just bad luck with that one.

I completely understand! We were in the same position. We are planning a small, intimate destination wedding of only 40 people max, and I felt like having multiple photographers and videographers would start to feel like we were on a step and repeat for a movie premiere or something 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 I would voice your concerns to your photographer and videographer of choice and see if they could create a custom package for you that only included one photographer and one videographer. That is what we did, and it worked out wonderfully. I will say, although the custom package is cheaper, it wasn’t that much cheaper. This is mainly due to the fact that the photographer and videographer will now have to run around and work much harder to capture all the shots and angles they want/need and would have easily captured with the additional shooters. But in the end, it’s much more important for us that our guests feel comfortable and that photography/videography isn’t an intrusion on our experience.
