Photographer canceled 9 days before the wedding.

Whatt!! I'm so sorry. Usually they are responsible to have a replacement, what does your contract say about cases of photographer getting sick or cancelling?

Read through your contract a few times to make sure you don't miss over anything because like futuremrs.e stated they generally should have a portion that states they are responsible for finding some kind of replacement if its this close to the wedding. I know mine does, so give it a read.

This is not a type of stress a bride needs with under two weeks before here wedding.

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry, OP! Like the other posters have said check your contract. In ours there is a stipulation where the photographer has to provide someone who has equal to or better photography skills than she does. This is in the event that she cannot perform her duties for our wedding. I am crossing my fingers and praying there is something like this in yours (and they hold up their end of the deal). HOW can they just up and cancel, unless you hired another hobbyist with no contract? If there is a contract, there should be a replacement or refund clause....start searching google and instagram and I'd even call at this point because even a day lost on email responses can be too much. Good luck....be diligent but not impulsive, and I hope you have success! Make sure they have a wedding portfolio and a contract.

OH man Amanda, at the least check your contract and see if it says anything about cancelations.

Do you have a FB forum in you are? A lot of times you can post there and people who are available will step up.

Who are these people? I've never had a couple who had a photographer cancel on them. What does your contract say?

Check your contract. Take them to Small Claims; Very effective.

Try thumbtack!!! You'll have quotes coming your way in no time!!!

Check your contract, and your wedding insurance!

Don't jump immediately to lawyers and don't, FSS go to thumbtack.

Call your other vendors, call your venue. They probably have a preferred list.

And look at your contract.

This is the reason that the courts are backlogged! Everyone wants to sue for everything!! Good grief! 1st things 1st, read your contract. Most photographers contracts state that they are to find a comparable replacement should they need to cancel for any reason other than none payment. If that clause is listed, they need to provide a new photographer for you. I agree with the FB groups, but DO NOT start out with threatening litigation... You'll get nowhere fast Goodness

Are you getting contracts for these people? Or just taking them at their word? It's extremely odd that this is the second time this has happened to you.

JFC Nancy, enough with "take them to small claims!" It's not appropriate in every single vendor issue situation.

Another option, I would contact George Street/Orion Group. It's a national group based out of Chicago but have photographers all over the US. With 9 days to go, you need every option possible if you want coverage.
