Photo Booth - a Worthwhile Splurge or a Waste of Money??

I am thinking of having a photo booth at our wedding reception. I've looked it up online & it looks like it would really be a lot of fun for our guests. I am thinking of having a photo booth at our wedding reception. I've looked it up online & it looks like it would really be a lot of fun for our guests. The guests would get the typical photo booth strip (remember the one's we took with our friends at the mall or the amusement park?) & the second strip would be placed in a keepsake book that the guests sign with a small message. It's $650 dollars and I am not sure if it is worth it or not. One of my friends went to a wedding recently with one & she said it was a blast and by the end of the night there was a line. Have any of you booked one for your wedding or been to a wedding with one? Help me decide!

We are doing one, and 650 is a good price, what I've seen they run for about 800 .

It will be a blast, and you'll have some great photos to remember your day.

This seems like a good alternative... http://offbeatbride.com/2010/08/diy-photo-booth

My FH and I went to his cousins wedding and they had one. It was definatly a hit and we got to wear fun hats if we wanted to. The pic was our favor and it hangs on our fridge.

TOTALLY fun!!!!! You should do it!!!! The guests get photos as a give away, and what a great way to remember a fun evening.

Went to a wedding last year with a photo booth...and the kids TOOK OVER!! They left with a huge stack of photo strips--but hey it kept them busy? It was a very "adult" wedding, with nothing for them to do really, even the band only played classical. I wish we had the budget to do it!!

We're doing it in place of our favors. I get the fun of having a photo booth and getting the disc at the end of the night and they get a unique and fun favor to take home!

Also, if you do decide... we're making some props (instead of the typical boa/sunglasses that you always see)

With so much going on @ a wedding, we are debating on having it the full time or just front load it on our schedule ie 3/4/5 hours...

With so much competition, esp from the DIY-ers, the pro's have had to drop their prices I noticed.

In my area - You can get a 'no-box' booths ie back drop - for as little as $300 extra from photogs & $500 from dedicated vendors.

I've seen the box booths go as low as $700. Of course some are still thinking this is the mid 2000's with their $1k offers...

Me, me, me!! This was one of my must have items. Everyone I know loves to take pictures of themselves and it works as a favor too.

If the booth is only $650 (a very good price) ask about their printer. If they use an inkjet, the line of people is not necessarily because it's so fun, but because the pictures take forever to print, and aren't professional quality.

You want a Di Sub (Di Sublimation) printer, which will crank them out every 8 seconds.

They are quite an attraction at wedding receptions and, if your budget allows and it sounds fun to you, do it!

I actually JUST got off the phone with the photobooth we will probably go with for our wedding and she quoted us at 850 for 5 hours, a free photobook with everyones pictures in it and unlimited pics and props. WE ARE SO EXCITED!!! I have not been to a wedding with a photbooth BUT i have seen pictures on facebook and they look SOOO FUN esp. with the personalized message you can put on the bottom of each photo shot that comes out!! It is def. worth the money!!

I seen this wedding on TV that they set up a lil section off the reception, they brought all kinds of things like big sunglasses and things like that to dress up in and someone was taking their picture (polaroids)

the guy would take 2, one for you and one for ur guest

but girl 650 is awesome! the last one i was quoted was almost 2grand

what is the company? is there a web sitE?

We are also going with Shutterbooth in Atlanta! I love the vendors. They are so easy to work with. We are getting 5 hours for $900.00 (caught them on special at the beginning of last year) and we get the DVD of all of the images, an attendant, props, and a scrapbook. You can add an hour and get the video opinion, where they guest can leave a message. Not sure if I am doing that though. We will also purchase little strip holders and make it one of our favors.

I saw one at a bridal show i went to with my fh and as soon as we saw it we knew that we would be investing in one for our wedding. I think it's a great and modern spin to the traditional guest book, i can't wait to see the pictures after the wedding is over!!

I love them and $650 is a great price. I went to a bridal show in DC over the weekend abd they quoted $1450 which is better that the $1800 I had heard the previous year.....yes I am a bridal crack head so I still go to the shows to keep up on the trends.

I really really wanted it, but now that I am doing a destination wedding and will have much less people, I am not sure about it...
