Personal experiences with David's Bridal?

MayAF, on June 23, 2017 at 7:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 54

I am looking for local wedding dress shops around the Salt Lake City, UT area. ( I've thought of local boutiques as well)

One shop is of course David's Bridal. A friend of mine had quite a few issues with her experience at one of their locations and I've heard other mixed reviews, but my mom is insisting that I at least try looking there. Anyone with good/bad experiences with them?

Thank you!

I had the worst experience at DB, but luckily for you, it was a different location! Hope yours is good..

I had a fantastic experience at my local one (not in Utah) with both the store and alterations.

The first thing I must tell you is that I did find my dress at a davids bridal, however, the first store that I went to treated me horribly. They treated me as though I was doing nothing right but the person helping me didn't even try to help me into my dresses! The second store davids bridal that I went to, and found my dress at was amazing. My sales person was great, stayed with me until closing, drawing the paperwork up several ways so I could see each items cost and then helped me into my dresses and multiple skirts. I guess overall I had a great experience there.

David's Bridal is the McDonald's of wedding dress shops. You get consistency but not originality and customer service is hot or miss. Went to a Davids Bridal near me and it was fine but just genetic. It's a good starting place if there are no other options

I had an ok experience with bridesmaids dress shopping. it was really chaotic and didn't feel very personal. I LOVED the way smaller bridal boutiques felt and how they treated me. A friend of mine went there first as a starting off point but she found her dress that day. Either way, you should still go. Even if you hate it, at least you will know that wasn't where your dream dress was supposed to be found.

Oh JFC let me tell YOU about David's Bridal. Now, I did not go there for my dress-- the cattle call shopping experience is not for me. BUT a friend getting married this year had us go there for her BP dresses.

The girl (Jaelyn) measures me, sucks in her breath and states (in front of the whole group): "ok, so... you have SUPER wide hips. We'll probably have to go up a size."

"Go fuck yourself" I say on the inside, externally I reply, "this dress she's picked is very flowy in the hips. I am usually a 2-4 if that's the case." She shakes her head and laughs at me, "we'll see." And yes, I walked out with a size 2.

So, if you're anywhere near the SouthCenter Mall location in Tacoma, WA... steer clear or be body shamed for your scrumptious booty.

I went to davids bridal twice. The first time I was the only one in the store and my consultant was so friendly and bubbly. I loved her. She was not pushy at all. I went to the David's bridal in another town where my mom lives because I wanted to just look at gowns in bags. They told me I needed a consultant to just look at the sale rack. They told me I had to wait an hour and a half just to LOOk at dresses. They were busy because it was prom season, but I said that's a dumb policy and it was very disrespectful and rude to make us feel like we were an inconvenience. I didn't have time to wait and it was a Saturday because I had an appointment at a real bridal store which was less than davids. I ended up buying my dress at Macy's

My David's Bridal experience was amazing. Make sure to schedule your appointment before going in, especially if you're going on a weekend. If you don't, you may run into the problem of your consultant having to run back and forth between you and another customer, or having to wait, as @Cassidy did. Booking in advance makes sure this doesn't happen.

I had an ok experience with Davids Bridal. If you go I would suggest bringing someone who can help you try dresses on. The consultant assigned to me had 2 other people she was helping so she was missing for most of the time. Also, bring water with you because it gets very hot taking on and off dresses. They don't offer you anything.

I had a good time. not the best out of all the shops I went to though. the lady that was helping me also helped others so it didn't feel personal I guess. Also make sure that you absolutely want a dress from them because their returns/canceling deposits is a nightmare. I had to go through with canceling my dress because I could not stop thinking about my Stella from a different store(I got pressured into buying a dress that everyone else loved but my heart was set on a Stella york) anyways, getting my money back was a hassle and it took me weeks to get it back. I had to go through corporate.

I had an amazing experience at DB! I went there multiple times because I just couldn't find my dress and had to look at them all. Haha Each consultant I had was wonderful and wanted me to be super happy with my pick.

I also tried some smaller boutiques and had terrible experiences. They weren't very helpful in finding what types of dresses I wanted to look at nor did they seem to care if I found one. I'm sure they're all different but I loved our DB.

This is all good to know, thank you everyone for your responses! I think I might make an appointment with them and try looking, maybe even try some stuff on and go from there. The second something goes south I'll walk out.

My experience at DB was great! I ended up buying my dress elsewhere, but my consultant was fantastic and not pushy at all, and she really figured out what my style was by the end of my walk-in consultation. Smiley smile

I had a fantastic experience at David's bridal but my sister did not (same location). My consultant was great and found a dress that fit my personality and budget

I had a wonerful expierence with DB! My consultant was friendly and very helpful/knowledgeable about finding dresses within my budget. I didn't find my dress.on the first visit, but I made an appointment with the same consultant (definitely make an appointment, while they will take a walk in theres no guarantee there will be an open dressing room if you do not) This was the first dress of my 2nd appointment & I knew it was the one

I felt wary about DB at first as well due to mixed reviews, but I decided to make an appointment and give it a try. I'm really happy that I did because that is ultimately where I found my dress! I did change my mind after I placed my first order, and they let me exchange the dress and veil for the ones I have now without an issue. I visited several other bridal salons in the area, but was not won over by the dresses I tried. I liked that DB gives you a corset and slip to try dresses on with which I think makes a difference. I felt like I had a really wide selection to choose from at DB in terms of dress budget. All of the consultants that helped me were nice, attentive, helpful with dress and veil choices and didn't pressure me into buying. The consultant seems to be one of the biggest factors for a positive or negative experience. I hope you have a good time if you make an appointment!

Well, I found my 'McDonald's of wedding dress shops' & 'genetic' dress from DB : )

They had plenty of styles n sizes available to try on. It was within my budget & my BMs found their dresses there, too. I went during a non-peak time. I was treated well; but I don't recall if they measured me for the dress; but instead just went by the size I tried on...that shouldn't have happened.

Overall, I don't regret getting my dress from DB; but do regret spending so much on the belt there. We are also going elsewhere for our alterations.

Totally fine; especially if you are on a budget. I was a little wary too but I had a great experience. If you go in expecting the staff to wait on you hand and foot like an expensive boutique, yeah you might be disappointed. You might need to search the racks on your own and work a little harder but I think it's totally worth at least checking out.

Also your sales associate will make a world of difference!! The first time I went in I got no help during my appointment, the girl was irritated with me for wanting to try on more dresses and pretty much avoided me (not that I really cared) but the second time I went in the girl that was helping me during my appointment was amazing, she brought me tons of dresses in my price range and didn't care that I had a low budget. She actually found my dress for me! There is such a large selection of gowns that I must have missed it when I pulled dresses for myself, but after getting a feel for what I was looking for she went and found exactly what I was describing!

I didn't have any issues with shipping or alterations.

Go to the Bridal Closet in Draper. They have the best selection. The dresses are affordable and the owner is amazing.
