Personal experiences with David's Bridal?

I am looking for local wedding dress shops around the Salt Lake City, UT area. ( I've thought of local boutiques as well)

One shop is of course David's Bridal. A friend of mine had quite a few issues with her experience at one of their locations and I've heard other mixed reviews, but my mom is insisting that I at least try looking there. Anyone with good/bad experiences with them?

Thank you!

Went to DB for my friend's appt shopping for her gown. Our consultant was awesome. We did not have anywhere to sit or go while she was trying on her dresses. We were literally in everyones way. I have a job where I am tethered to my laptop (oncall rotations frequently) so I also had my bag with me in case anything happened that I needed to address quickly, as we were an hour away from my home and work. Even more in the way. We were crammed in there like sardines (all of the brides and their entourages). Our consultant was awesome.

My friend ended up getting her gown at Alfred Angelo. It was super less crowded and the consultant there was awesome. We had seating an were treated very well. We also had a great experience trying on BM dresses at AA.

When it came down to it, I did not opt to even try DB at all for my gown. I ended up at a local shop. We are going there tomorrow for BM dresses.

I have had a great experience So far. My consultant went on my online account and pulled several of the dresses I had marked "favorite" and a few others she liked. I stood there and she dressed me up like a doll. I really think it's about the location. If you go, and are treated poorly, don't go back.

Use DB to find the fit/style you like but buy elsewhere. DB is best for bridesmaids dresses.

I had the best experience! My consultant was amazing and ended up pulling the dress I picked. I loved how almost every dress fit as well. I tried on maybe 15 dresses.

My experience was great at first and then was lied to recently by the lady who helped me originally last fall. I gained weight and needed a size up and she told me I could get it by July but then I was told that wasn't possible after they took my dress. I was left with no dress and no promise of getting another one in time. I got in touch with corporate and they are working with me and my local store which has been helpful but only after I put up a fight to get what I want. I would say if you go there just don't expect much and just because they are a big retailer they can't exchange things easily or help much if an issue arises.

It really depends on the location. I visited two locations in my area. One was run VERY well and the employees were very knowledgeable. The other was more disorganized and I later found out it's because they have a high turnover rate (not sure if it's because that particular location is near a college or because of problems within their store). Both locations had very nice staff but I definitely had a better experience at the location that was better organized/managed. That store was impeccable and they had stellar customer service.

Some suggestions to have a (hopefully) better experience: look at their gowns online and mark their style numbers down, then call the store and ask if they have samples in stock in your size. Try to go on a weekday, when they won't be as busy so it's quieter and you can hear your own thoughts. Only bring a couple people with you (1-2, 3 at most). Be open to trying different styles. Bring your own undergarments like spanx and a nude or white strapless bra for versatility (they have bras and things there that you can use as you try on gowns but the tags can get uncomfortable with a dress over it). If you don't like a dress, take it off and move on to the next one. Read up on dress lingo, so you can let the consultant know what you want to try on (know the silhouette types, fabrics, and necklines, maybe even words to describe what you're looking for such as vintage, ethereal, etc.).

    Good luck!

ETA: I got my dress from Davids.

I think I will get my bridesmaids dresses with them....but I had an amazing experience with them! I had an "almost" dress with them, a Vera Wang ballgown, and they treated me like a princess. I had two different appointments, both times the manager assisted me and got me into every dress and the second appointment they stayed with me until an hour past closing!!! will definitely be buying things from them even if it is invitations and accessories because I loved them so much, just happened to find THE DRESS elsewhere

Honestly it was like the Walmart experience for dress shopping for me. I went to a few other boutiques and had a much better experience (and the boutiques still had afgordable dresses too)

They aren't professional.. I had a bad experience and walked out of my appointment because the girl I had was rude. Not to mention I felt like all the dresses I looked at seemed cheaply made

I'm sure they have beautiful dresses I just didn't get to see any of them!

If there's another place to get a dress, I'd at least go there first

I had a great experience at my Davids bridal shop! I ended up getting my dress there and every interaction I had with anyone there was positive. They are busy so definitely make an appointment! And if you don't end up finding a dress there, like others have said it's a good starting point. They have a huge selection so you can try different styles and see what you like. Happy shopping!

I had a great experience! I had the first appointment of the day but I got stuck in traffic so I was delayed an hour. But they worked with me and I got with a consultant very quickly. She took my measurements and we talked about dresses i liked and my budget. Then we got started and she pulled several that I loved but the that I tried on was absolutely amazing and perfect and I ended up buying the sample and they spot cleaned it before I left! Here is a picture of it

I liked the woman that helped me, my MOH hated her.

The thing I didn't like was the "upgrading". they tried to sell me a $150 hair clip that was hideous

My Davis's Bridal experience was great. I did not get my dress there (just fell in love with a diff one), but they had soooooo many dresses in my price-point (I was shopping for things under $1000) and my size (I'm border-line plus size).

I'd be more cautious about it because I saw a press release about how Davids Bridal might be filing for bankruptcy. Could mean some upcoming changes in what they offer and their quality going forward.

    Hope that helps!

I had a good experience. My consultant was really nice and paid attention to my needs. The only thing I didn't like was that they were way understaffed, so my consultant had an appointment with me and another woman at the same time. I felt so bad for her, but she had a great attitude. I also didn't have any issues with alterations. It really depends on which location you go to.

My friend got a gorgeous dress at DB just 3 days before her very low-key wedding (basically an elopement). She is the perfect "sample size," so that definitely helped. She had an appointment, but the salesperson hardly helped at all aside from chastising my friend for "waiting until the 11th hour" and pressuring me to buy a BM dress there. She yelled at us for rummaging, but she was too busy helping 2 other brides to pull dresses herself. My friend got EXTREMELY lucky that we raided the $99 sales rack and one fit her like a glove. Dress was nice...customer service and overall experience sucked!

I thought it was ok. I had an appointment and they took forever to help me. they had a lot of selections to choose from but I decided to go to a small boutique and found an amazing dress.
