Pending venue contract - how long do I wait?!?!

Rebecca, on October 21, 2016 at 1:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

LADIES,

I am waiting to hear back with an agreement for the venue and date of my dreams. The owner (while responsive, seems a bit scattered over email) said he will get the contract to me by today at the latest, but also said that 2 other couples also have agreements out for the same date (no deposits) . I haven't heard anything from him in 24 hours, and I don't want to be pushy, but I'm currently VERY anxious about the competitiveness of this date!!! Should I call? Do I send another email even though he hasnt responded to my last one? Do I just put it aside and wait?

Im venting more than anything, but any thoughts on what you would do?? I don't want to be too pushy, but we are willing to put a deposit down as soon as we review contract! Is this what bridzilla feels like???

I think it's odd he'd have multiple agreements out for the same date. The venue I'm working with secures the date until there is any form of verbal and written mention that you will not use that date until a contract and deposit is received. Id definitely call and Clarify if this date is exclusively available for you and mentione your concerned and just want ensure you are secure worn them. That's no bridezilla...its you making sure you have the date and venue for the day of your dreams.

I would be a little concerned about the vendor in general--sometimes people get busy, I understand, but scatterbrained once usually means scatterbrained again and it's strange that they have multiple agreements out, those couples could also be ready with a check in hand.

I hear all of the concerns. The venue has very high ratings, and everyone who Ive read reviews from who have gotten married there say they would do it again in a heartbeat. its clear he's fielding a lot of inquiries. I think I will call closer to the end of business hours today, and hopefully get it locked down. I dont think its unusual, its just stressful!

That's super stressful having two other couples competing for the same date. And would make me really worried! I would call.

I would def call- You do not have a date until deposit is given. My venue considered the date open until they had a check in hand. I had a check in hand when i did my tour of the venue and booked by the end of my tour and had contract in my hand.

Call for sure! If you sit back and wait, it may be snatched by another couple!

I totally feel you. I would call now instead of end of business day, or just casually swing by if the venue is nearby to drop off your deposit. Just my 2 cents. If you know what you want, full steam ahead. Vendors are used to brides being brides. If you have been polite so far, I see no harm in adding some pressure so you get what you want.

I would definitely call, but if that's the venue of your dreams then you might not want to get your hopes up on the date. A date is not reserved until there is a deposit!

Thanks ladies. We are booking from Colorado and the venue is in Vermont. No ability to swing by, unfortunately. I will call them as soon as I have a lunch break at work! Thanks, fingers crossed!

This sounds wierd..mess that there are 2 others pending the same date?? We signed and took a copy the same day we booked the venue and put down our deposit. So ds sketchy...rethink this one. Oh just saw your update. That's great!
