Park wedding

Hey there! So I’m having my wedding in Southern California in June 2020. I’m thinking of having it at a park, but I’d have about 150 guests. What are some tips or thoughts on how I can accomplish this?

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Rachel!

That sounds awesome. Are you from the Southern California area?

I would definitely recommend you browse the WeddingWire venue directory as part of your search Smiley smile On the directory it’s possible to filter by venue type, capacity and location! Check it out - San Diego Park Wedding Venues.

Have you looked up wedding albums at parks you're considering? That would be an easy way to figure out what's worked for other people and get inspiration. I think the biggest challenge is going to be the rentals, set up, and cleanup. The park may have tables and chairs available, but you'll likely need to rent some sort of dance floor, unless everyone knows that dancing will be in the grass/dirt. Don't forget about lighting if your reception will go past sunset! You might want to consider a tent set up or some sort of fixture to ensure that plenty of lighting can be hung up. All these things can be rented through a rental company or a caterer who can take care of rentals as well.

As far as set up and clean up goes, the rental company may do this, but it might be helpful if you have a day-of planner to help coordinate everything. I got lucky and my caterer, Jeff the Silent Chef, was able to take care of everything, including rentals, set up, clean up, even basic coordinating duties. He serves Southern California, so if you're open to spending a little more money, but want to ensure your day go smooth, consider him! Plus his food is amazing!
