Pale-skin Brides Unite!

I am significantly more pale than FH, as is evidenced by my photo. His pale parts are my tan parts, if I'm lucky. My question is: have any of you ever had a spray tan, or are any of you planning one for your wedding festivities? I don't want one for the wedding, I like my pale skin/dark hair/red...

My question is: have any of you ever had a spray tan, or are any of you planning one for your wedding festivities? I don't want one for the wedding, I like my pale skin/dark hair/red lips combo with the dress, but we aren't leaving for the HM (Hawaii) until a couple days later, so I'm debating about purchasing some color so that I don't blind the other people on the beach...

Those are good tips, thanks @Soon2bMrsDeFino! And I agree, it's not fair that he's so dark, even on his thighs that never see the sun! Argh!

I'm pale, too! I've been thinking about trying the Jergens lotion, but I've heard it has a weird smell so not sure if I'll like it or not. I think I'm just going to end up being pale of my wedding day because even in the summer I don't tan that much.

I plan on tanning a little before the wedding.. Just so I am even toned for my strapless dress and so I don't completely burn to a crisp on our honeymoon in St. Lucia... I learned the hard way that the sun in Mexico and Jamaica are so different than from where we live.. and I'm sure St. Lucia will be the same.

I have done the spray tan before in two different ways. The first time I had one sprayed on me by hand at a salon. It turned out perfect and the color lasted for like two weeks. The only awkward thing was that I had to be naked to be sprayed...it was weird. So the next time I wanted a spray tan I heard about these booths at tanning salons and I figured I would try that because I didn't want to get naked in front of some stranger again. Well, that one turned out looking kind of orange and the instructions told me to turn from side to side, but it was delayed on starting so one of my arms turned out all speckled and it looked horrible. I just started going to the tanning bed again (I know shame on me). I go for 5 minutes every other day. Once May rolls around if I feel like I am still pale then I will get the spray tan because I don't want to blind anyone on the beach either lol.

I'm super pale too, spray tan crossed my mind for a moment or so but I'd rather look like I normally do and not risk regretting it. I've embraced my pale for many years and I know my FH won't care!

As for the Honeymoon? I am ready to stand out, haha, when my sister (also pale) went on her's, she and her DH were called Ghosts by the locals, haha.

I am pale and my FH is always tan especially his face till around Christmas time (just wearing off from summer). I LOVE tanning but it is so bad I already know! Most of my BM also love tanning but as we all age we are trying to be good and stay away. I plan on having my last tanning stint this fall before my wedding because I want to be "light tan" to match up with my FH and I also told me BM no dark tanning.

I am TOTALLY as white as that Irish girl photo!

I may just do a couple of tanning sessions. I tend to burn. The burn usually turns into a tan if I take care of it, but I'd rather just have a base before the honeymoon. Even if it's not much, at least my skin will have a little extra resistance than if I didn't, or if I got a spray tan. I've never been in a tanning bed before though, so I'm a little nervous!

I dont sunbathe. My family medical history has skin cancer so I'm careful how much sun I get, & when I do get sun, I'm slathered in sun block. The few times I've tried to lay out & tan, I get sunburned too easily. So yeah I'm pretty pale, & add all my freckles, it can get blinding lol. But me, I'm all naturale, I'm not tanning at all, no spray on tan, nothing. I accept my whiteness. Although just another of the many reasons why I'm not wearing white dress: that will make my paleness stand out more lol

I was going to try a spray tan....but then my FH pointed out that i'll probably turn orange (because nothing happens to me correctly...ever). I can' do tanning beds because for some reason the fake UV doesn't burn or tan me....I'm pretty sure I come out whiter lol

I didn't know they did airbrush tanning, but I"m definitely going to have to look into that.

Pale is beautiful and to hell who says otherwise!

I just did a spray tan for my future brother in law and sister in law's wedding and i was happy with the color, however DEODORANT BEWARE!!!! something about the chemicals in the deodorant and the self tanner turn black!!!! i found that even with the jergens glow (which I love!!!!!!)that if you get it too close to your underarms you turn black. Just a friendly little PSA from your happy wine drinking bride. Smiley smile

    MrsO absolutely stunning!!

I rarely tan so our pictures would turn out with me not looking like myself. I'll be embracing my pale self.

Irish, naturally reddish brown hair, the freckles explode in the sun. I burn, peel, the look blotchy if I am out in the sun much....but if I do the tanning bed 8-10 visits, and get a good base tan, I can lay out, swim, work in the yard, etc. and not nearly as much of an issue with the freckles, burning, blotchy. So that's probably the route I'll take this summer. I've wanted to try the lotion tans, but always chicken out.

I worked at a tanning salon a while ago. I don't tan normally, but I am tanning right now because I am fair and don't want to get blisters on the honeymoon. It will also look better for me because white is not my color. I am uv tanning but I have done mystic and versa spray tan booths many times. They are both good, the mystic is a golden tan while the versa is more of a brown or deep bronze. People seem to prefer Mystic but I have no preference. However, of all the spray tans I am most happy with the airbrush that the lady manually applies. It OS the best coverage, with customizable color and you can even have them make you look slimmed by shading areas with the airbrush. :-) I will get one for the wedding/honeymoon. But remember it does absolutely nothing for you with uv protection. I am doing low level beds because they are highest in uvb to build protection from burning, and because uva has a higher correlation with cancer, (and gives darker tans). It generally does more damage to the skin to get a bad burn than a few sessions of tanning.

Another pale girl here! My body refuses to tan in the sun or a bed, just burn. Took my 2ndmom and tried spray tanning the 1st time a couple weeks ago and again tonight. Turned out just fine for me, although hers was a little splotchy in places.

I had a spray tan once....it was awful. I got it for vacation to Florida and while it was applied by a professional it looked like crap.

So, I will be pale. I'm always pale anyway, and looking back on photos from Florida I look goofy. You don't want to look different than normal on your wedding day.

I plan on getting an airbrush tan for our wedding! I was pretty nervous about getting one the first time I did it. However, I came home, pulled off my shirt and ran through my house yelling for FH & my roommate saying "LOOK AT HOW HOT I LOOK!!!!!!" Not a lie, actually did that. You will love an airbrush tan- its awesome!!

PSA: DO NOT SPRAY TAN AND THEN GO IN A POOL

I spray tanned for my epics but not the actual wedding.

When you spray tan you can't be submerged in water for long amounts of time. The chlorine eats away at the tan. Since I was going on my honeymoon right after the wedding and planned on spending significant amounts of time drinking and floating in a pool I didn't want to appear blotchy.

I have spray tanned before trips to Vegas and tried to avoid the pool the best I could but my legs still looked blotchy and gross. This never happened to me when I spray tanned and avoided chlorine. The tanning ladies warned me of this but when it is hot...you need to float.

I'm 1/4 American Indian and I'm still super duper pale. I'm not tanning for the wedding, or even the honeymoon! I did self tanners in the past and ALWAYS ALWAYS streaked or missed a spot. I actually do not look good tanned. And I don't tan naturally well, I burn and THEN tan. If I blind people... well... they're staring too much! Smiley smile
