Paging MNA-- Anyone doing disney wedding?

Tashiana, on January 5, 2017 at 8:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

My FH and I think an affordable option is the escape package for Disney weddings which does not include a reception but I REALLY want a reception. The ceremony and hotel stay will probably be 7000 and our budget is 10,000. Anyone think have any suggestions on how I can get a reception. Or is a reception even worth it for 20 to 35 people?

Put paging MNA in your title, she's getting married at Disney. If I see her on another thread I'll point her in your direction!

No problem! I do know that she's said her budget is $15000 for 30 guests and that they are doing a reception.

I looked into Disneyland, but I couldn't find a package that we seemed to both like. I would have been very happy with a Grand Californian hotel wedding but he didn't want that, for him it was married in the parks or a local location. We ended up local Smiley smile You should provide your guests a reception as a thank you for coming to your wedding. I believe MNA is having a Disney wedding, she might have more insight into it.

FBIL just got married in Disney. They did the cake reception since wedding was in afternoon. Then went to Epcot for dinner. They had 20 people.

How was it? I'm afraid it will seem cheap and I want our families and close friends to feel like they had an experience.

We enjoyed. It wasn't cheap at all. We got to see the fireworks after dinner. Since we all had to travel we made a mini vacation out of it and did a group trip to Magic Kingdom the next day.

Let me tell you, I'm really a Disney fan. We were planning an Escape in DW. Everyone was expecting it! We cancelled it. We lost our deposit, and I couldn't be happier. We are now planning a wedding for 125 guests for 3,000 more.

I just felt we were going to leave a lot of close people out. With parents and siblings and 1 friend from each side we had the 20 guests (18 guests + Groom and Bride). The package costs $6,000 plus I wanted it to be in the chapel so that was more money, plus the hotel stay (inside property- which is expensive compared to the ones that we always stay outside), plus since it didnt had a reception, just a cake cut a toast and thats it, and we wanted to provide people with food- cost was going to be like $10,000 for just 20 people.

If you have a close group/small family, and you really love Disney, and you can pay for it- then do it.

Let me tell you, DW is literally my second home and I'm a huge fan, and we had the money- but at the end of the day, we think it wasnt worth it.

I think I still have some documents that I can share with u... let me know if you would like to get it Smiley winking

Disneyland or disney world. I did alot of research for disneyland and there are TONS of resturants to do a reception and you get the attention of walking down downtown disney in your dress (ekkkkk!!!!). You have choices of the Jazz Kitchen, Tortilla Joe's, house of Blues and another upscale resturant that I can't remember the name of. You also have the Tiki Tom, and disney resturants you can eat at.

I would love to get a disney wedding but FH laughed when I brought it up so it's a no go for me

@havanachic thank you for sharing that with me! I would love to see anything you have, I won't be getting married for another 14 months so they won't even share anything with me as you know. The 18 people work for us but I would really love a reception or meal of some kind and a first dance with my FH.

Now that I saw Havanachic's post...just to mention we all stayed at the all star resorts. Including the bride and groom. So another option to save $$

Send me your email, and tomorrow I can share what I have Smiley smile

We wanted something nice for us for the hotel so we booked the one with the Port Orleans French Quarter, because Grand Floridian was entirely booked.

Oh, another detail, if you get married in the chape your cake and toast can be in the Floridian which is exquisite!

You can definitely add food and drink, BUT it needs to be after the cake and toast celebration, or you will need to cut some time and ask them to pack the cake to go to the restaurant/ place of your choice.

I even have the non-official wedding guide for Disney Brides in a PDF, I can send that to you.

I can tell you what it includes:

    DOC Coordinator

    Limousine

    Your bouquet

    Grooms boutonniere

    2 hours of a photographer

Album with (I think 25 pictures- it could be more)

Ceremony venue (and music, but it needs to be from a list that they have or they might charge) I remember we were going to chose a violinist, but idk if the musician was included because pf the chapel or because of the package

Cake and toast celebration venue which includes:

    Cake

Time for Toast (and 2 champagne bottles or 4 ciders)

    Time for First Dance

    Water

Obviously you can enhance your selections, with some $$$$

    Just saw this!

We are doing a mini wishes package, which includes the reception. The minimum for it is $9000, or was when I last spoke to them.

Right now we are planning on a lunchtime Thursday wedding with a full signature open bar, and all said and done, we are expecting $15,000. We are using an outside photographer for the ceremony and will be doing an Epcot dessert party with open bar that evening, for guests who want to go, with VIP access to Soarin'.

For our enhancements, we are adding a $2500 2-park (Magic Kingdom and Epcot) wedding shoot, the dessert party (private at U.K. Lochside), upgrading to the Wedding Pavilion, and our florals to meet enhancements minimums. This will include bouts and bouquet, a petal side runner, and centerpieces for the reception.

All in all, we expect to have 30 guests, and if we trimmed it down we could easily do it for $12k, but I want videography with streaming, which pushes our budget up.

I also don't include accommodations in the total, because we will be doing a 2 week honeymoon as well.

I have a book that has full pricing and details on EVERYTHING, so just let me know if you need more info!
