Overdone and over it?

What trends, elements, themes, decorations, etc., are you so tired of seeing at weddings? I keep seeing articles about wedding trends that need to "die" or themes that are overdone. So I want to hear what you all are totally over seeing at weddings. I haven't been to many weddings so I love to hear...

I really hate the signs that ring bearers carry that say "don't worry ladies, I'm single".... it freaks me out a bit and I know it is supposed to be funny, but I don't think it is.

Also, weddings being all about show (money) and not the marriage itself

I hate the word "squad" because I instantly think of a rescue squad and ambulance.

    Hashtags.

Wood, wood, more wood. (FH hates distressed wood so it's not allowed near our wedding.)

I'm not sure why people want burlap at their weddings...

    Barn weddings.

The obsession with mason jars. Yeah, they look cool if you get the old blue glass ones (the real antique blue canning jars, not the glazed ones you find sold new nowadays). Other than that, they're just jars...

I'm not a big fan of the mismatched dress trend.

Photo booths remind me of my fifth grade dance.

Cheesy "clever" signs everywhere. "Pick a seat, not a side." That sorta stuff.

Sparklers. Probably because they terrify me.

Any comment about how a child is single.

Any comment about how the groom should run away.

Anything burlap or in a barn.

A wedding that has bridal members in jeans and boots makes me cringe and I am even from the south.

Shoving cake in each other's face.

I don't think anything really bothers me. Maybe the ring bearer signs that say that they're single or it's too late to run. A lot of people don't like rustic weddings and that's understandable because that's not who they are. However, my wedding is going to be a slightly rustic bohemian theme because that's who I am. I'm from a small town and have lived on a farm all my life, I'm not really into super formal, fancy events.

Rustic and burlap! I want the exact opposite of rustic. Also, camo makes me want to puke.

Barns, burlap, mason jars, and anything rustic! Most people on the rustic band wagon aren't even country.

@FutureMrs. G yes!! I cant stand those phrases.... I felt like I was the only one lol

@Q & S why did those ever become a thing?? I have no idea why any bride would want that at their wedding...

ETA: im loving these responses! I find myself shaking my head as I read! also cant stand the "im still single" signs for children... eww... I decided to have fh niece walk down carrying a sign because shes too old to be a flower girl but I knew how important it would be to fh to have her be a part of the wedding. so her signs says "Uncle _____, Here comes your bride"

Im so over the pick a seat not a side!!! I don't know why but it has always bugged me!

@Amanda, most of the décor in our wedding was bought with the intention to decorate our home with it afterwards! so all of the "rustic" is totally us. I knew some people wouldn't like it when I choose to go that direction but fh was just as adamant about the look of the wedding as I was! haha

The word rustic also makes me cringe and it's ~kind of~ our theme. We're going for a natural/romantic style, but you won't find any burlap or mason jars....

I personally hate bridesmaids that wear short dresses with cowboy boots.

Having the men in jeans and the ladies in formal dresses. And Disney themed weddings.

Y'all are getting married. Put on your grown up clothes and put away your toys.

I'm going to get shot for this but...

I think (along with everything else mentioned above) that blush as a wedding color is very overdone. And honestly? It looks good on very few people. Light pink isn't a great color to try to pull off on a wedding day.

@bemyguest I actually agree with you. I originally wanted that color 2 years ago when I started planning my wedding, but quickly realized its overused and no one in my bridal party would look good in it..

I am in Texas and not real thrilled with cowboy or rustic, but it's not my choice. Mason jars should only be used for canning IMHO. My venue sits on a little over 6 acres and has an old world Tuscan theme and decor inside and out. Our slogan is "A Touch of Tuscany Under the Texas Sun". It's a small, intimate and unique venue intentionally. I hate cookie cutter venues. It's elegant and classy, but it can be transformed or dressed down very easily for any other style while I cringe in the background LOL.
