Over or Under: Average Wedding Budget?

Maggie, on March 12, 2019 at 11:05 AM

Weddings cost a serious chunk of change, but couples still tend to underestimate how much they’ll spend on their wedding. Will you be over or under the average budget of $29,200? (Not including your engagement ring or honeymoon!) Is that more or less than you thought you’d spend on your wedding?...

Under. Our initial budget was 2k, we’re having to go up, however we are also getting some help from family. I think our ending total will be around 6k.

Over. Ugh. I remember when we were so innocent being like "of course we can do a wedding for $6K!" We didn't realize our parents had such specific expectations for the wedding since they're all informal and chill. I think we also didn't realize how much of the legwork of a wedding the caterer actually does.

WAY under! Luckily we’re gegting married at my FIL property so we don’t have to pay for a venue, I couldn’t imagine spending that much on one day! I don’t judge for the people that do, I just couldn’t see myself doing it.

Waaayyyyy under! I have a free venue and photographer/videographer, so that helps a ton! We are currently sitting at about $1500 right now, probably looking at 4k total.

Under! We budgeted for 15K and are pretty much in that range. We're not completely finished but the main things we knew would take up a majority of the budget have been purchased or accounted for and then the rest has to fit in! We've done a great job keeping to it though.

We're going to end up somewhere around $9000 but we have been given around $4000 gifted from family so out of pocket $5000 not including FH ring, tux, and my dress

Under! Im not sure what our current estimate is, (FH handles that) but it cant be more than 15k. And were not counting the honeymoon, because were not taking it until 9m later. (Im a teacher and were getting married in Oct. so the honeymoon wont be until the next may.

Over...I wanted to do it all for under 15k but that doesn't seem like it will happen. Thankfully we have been using the budget calculator here on wedding wire!

We are waaaaay over. Originally budgeted $45k for 150 people now it's looking like it's going to cost us around $70k.
