Outdoor Wedding.. No Aisle Runner

MarleyAnne22, on September 27, 2016 at 10:18 AM Posted in Planning 0 31

Who else is not having an aisle runner for their outdoor wedding?

Or has been to a wedding they didn't have one?

If so what did they do instead?

I'm thinking of putting flower petals down both sides of the aisle.

I didn't want anyone to trip walking...and I decided to cut it to save on cost. I'm really not that bothered by not having one, just trying to figure out what the heck to do instead.

I'm not having one either. Smiley smile I'm not sure if my venue allows flower petals to be thrown on the ground or not, but I'm kind of a "less is more" person and thinking I'll just do some shepherd's hooks with hanging mason jars with baby's breath in them down the inside of the aisle.

I have never been to a wedding with an aisle runner in the past 10 years.

We are having an outdoor ceremony(weather permitting) and I think it would just be more hassle than its worth and I find it a waste for a 20 minute ceremony. The chairs dictate where the aisle is so I think your fine without one.

Our ceremony is outside so we won't be having a runner. Petals, leaves and candles are always a gorgeous alternative as well.

I had my ceremony in my back yard, and no runner, just grass. What is the purpose of the runner? so people know where the aisle is? Where we positioned our chairs did that...

Outdoor wedding. No aisle runner here! I'd be afraid I would trip

I don't think I'm having one at my outdoor ceremony. The aisle is already lined with lanterns, which is hopefully enough.

Those are all good suggestions! I like the leaves idea a LOT but highly doubt any leaves will have changed colors in the next 11 days. So I was just thinking white petals would be nice. Just trying to see what other alternatives people have done.

I don't think one is necessary either, especially for an outside wedding when it can be hazardous if not pinned down good. Waste of money to me! haha

Our ceremony space has a concrete path with grass on both sides. The chairs will line the aisle and I'll have some lanterns and flowers. I don't think a runner is necessary. The flower girl will throw some flower petals. I agree it could be a tripping hazard.

Our venue has stumps we can use. I've also thought of doing that and placing mason jars on them with baby's breath or sunflowers (or both). If I did that would that be enough? Especially if the flower girl throws petals.

I've seen photos of outdoor aisles that have greenery draped on the chairs leading down the aisle and I just think it is gorgeous. I like flowers on the sides as well. Anything with a flame near a dress I worry about, but if it is wide enough maybe I am the only one lol.

I don't think any of the outdoor weddings I've been to have had any kind of an aisle runner. Our path will be clear but there will be baskets of flowers set next to the rows of chairs.

Oh also, my priest mentioned a runner and said he always worries if we have any older people walking down (or up after the ceremony), you know how sometimes older people have to shuffle their feet a little as they walk, he said he ALWAYS worries about them tripping easily on those runners.

I'm worried about this! Still trying to decide if I need a runner. I think the main thing I'm worried about is my veil (cathedral) possibly getting caught on a stick in the grass or something. I never thought about tripping up on it though. My FMIL seems to think I need one so my "dress doesn't get dirty"??..which I could care less about.

I think aisle runners are worse than pointless. Flower petals are nice, though, if they're allowed.:-)

Not doing one. I know myself well enough to know I will probably trip on it and break my face lol. Going to decorate the aisles a bit and go from there

My wedding is outside on grass. Did a bit of research and they said not to use a runner. Could be dangerous. I may use rose petals.

I'm so relieved to know it won't be weird without one. I think every wedding I've been to has had one. It didn't seem like a must have thing to me and I'm so clumsy already so I wanted to avoid tripping.

We didn't have a runner. Instead I crafted these cardstock paper hearts with wooden dowels and lined the aisle with those. Cost about $10!
