Outdoor Wedding in December

Victoria , on January 19, 2013 at 3:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I live in AZ and it's well-known that it is HOT here. However, in the wintertime (our wedding will be in the EVENING of 12/31/13) it can get cold. Today, for example, it is now 70 degrees but by midnight, it will get down to 50.

Realistically, I think I can have the ceremony outdoors but the reception should probably be indoors... what do you guys think?

That's what we are doing! We live in FL and our ceremony is outside .. in June! We are doing a sunset wedding on the bay so it shouldn't be too hot but we making sure it is short. We'll move the party inside as soon as the ceremony is over!

I think it sounds wonderful, it would be nice outside to do a ceremony, also I would have a back up plan for the ceremony but I think everything will go off nicely!

Ooooh, 50 degrees sounds AMAZING right now. We're just getting out of a cold snap that dropped us to below zero for several days!

Annette G., I love the idea!

Can you do a heated tent outside? I do think it should be indoors if its going to be 50 degrees. That's pretty chilly and people will have to wear at least a jacket or something.

I am in California and it gets pretty cold in the evenings in December as well. We are considering an outdoor wedding (the church where we are considering the ceremony has a beautiful garden) The location where FH wants to have the reception has an indoor location that is all glass so you get the outdoor feel. When we went for our walk-thru we went in the evening and the area was very cold. The coordinator said they offer several tall patio heaters for free.

If you can get the patio heaters, I say go for it.

Eep, 50 or 60 is cold for me! Especially in a dress! You can do this, but I'd try to get heaters, even if you're only doing a short ceremony outside. If you go this route, definitely inform your guests of the plan so girls can bring cardigans/ jackets for the ceremony. Maybe you can provide blankets or wraps? Then again, maybe your guests aren't such whimps about the cold like I am ;-)
