Outdoor March Wedding. Wtf do I wear?!

FuturemrsDickinson, on March 23, 2015 at 10:27 AM

This Saturday FH's friend is getting married. Outside. In an open pavilion. In Ohio. It's supposed to be 40 as a high and I highly doubt it will be that warm at 5:30 for the ceremony. What the freak do I even wear to that?! I'm kinda peeved that there will be zero warmth besides *maybe* a heat lamp...

What the freak do I even wear to that?! I'm kinda peeved that there will be zero warmth besides *maybe* a heat lamp or two. I'm a total unhappy butthole when I'm cold too. Ugh. So, any ideas besides my coat?

A high of 40 degrees? The low is 27 degrees (just checked Ohio weather). Maybe they should be having their reception in a venue's walk-in cooler. Same atmosphere with access to plenty of food.

They can't really just be convincing themselves that a few heat lamps will keep the party going, can they? I really would have to decline. There is no way I can stand that kind of cold for hours on end. Unless there's something you don't know (like they're tenting it and having lots of heaters), there's no way anyone is hanging around. Bad move.

What? I've lived in wisconsin my whole life and it's snowing here today....why on earth would someone plan that. Anyways I would still wear a dress with tights and a coat. I would wear hat and mittens and also bring a blanket...good luck...I'm a huge b***ch too when I'm cold! (Side note can you update us with what the brides wearing, I'm insanely curious hahah)

I live in Ohio. It's 36 degrees out right now. I'm curled up on my couch wrapped in a blanket with my heat as high as it will go. I'M FREEZING!!! Your friends are total assholes.

Ugh. definitely fleeced lined tights or long johns under nice pants. Sweaters, parka , mits toque scarf. I'm from good ol Manitoba up north and we got snow today (after it all melted of course.)

About 5 years ago my cousin got married on her parents farm, outside, in DECEMBER! She did have a tent, my grandpa went in there with a tractor before setting it up and cleared out a bunch of snow, they laid flooring down and they had a shit ton of heaters. It was warm enough. But if it wasn't I would've left. I guess the highlight of that wedding was the bride (my cousin) skating down the aisle

Even if it weren't cold, the chances that it will rain in Ohio when you don't want it to are almost always 100%.

I can't believe the entire event is outdoors! I thought they were crazy when I just thought it was the ceremony. I would definitely dress for the weather and not for the event. They can't expect their guests to wear normal cocktail attire when it is that cold!

Haha I'm so glad I'm not alone thinking that they are crazy! Even FH agrees! I will update to let you all know what the bride wears too.

40 degrees sounds cold for an outside, wedding, but a parka?! lol...

I regularly wear dresses below freezing. Get some fleece lined tights, and a sweater dress. Done.

The obvious answer is a cloak. How often in life do you get to wear a cloak?

OMG!!!!!! That is insane.... What in the World????? Let's hope that they have tents sent up or a barn or something the shelter everyone from the cold. Otherwise, I would dress like an "Eskimo" and only stay through the wedding. "Cause they still have to take pictures and everything which means that the reception will probably start about an hour after the ceremony ends .... Good Luck.... Let us know how it goes.....

@ladymonk I don't own a parka, but if I did, I would totally wear it. I'd rather be warm than to look cute for their outdoor march wedding. Not sorry about that.

I'll admit, when I saw this title, I was like: "Um, where whatever you want. Duh." But that shows you how sheltered I've been in my southwestern life, having only lived in California and Arizona where March is beautiful outside. (It's in the 90s right now)

The high is 40 degrees? That's ridiculous. I'm weak. I can barely stand it being 60 degrees, so I honestly wouldn't go. Or I would be oblivious and be way under dressed being miserable the whole time and would leave earlier. I wish you the best of luck and please don't turn into a popsicle!

Lol, yeah. Well they're being unreasonable, I'd probably wear a parka too. Haha...

But seriously though, fleeced tights are amazing..!!! They're less itchy too than regular tights. The rest of the world needs a pair (ahem... I have 7 pairs, LOL).

My cousin's wedding is at 4 PM on Sept 4, but it's in California. Apparently they said it gets cold as the sun sets, but I have no idea what "cold" means... fleeced tights in my purse...??? jk... hopefully...

That's ridiculous! Did they invite a lot of people? Nobody is going to stick around. Maybe for dinner, but I'll bet everyone leaves after that. That was a horrible decision!
