Outdoor March Wedding. Wtf do I wear?!

FuturemrsDickinson, on March 23, 2015 at 10:27 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 43

This Saturday FH's friend is getting married. Outside. In an open pavilion. In Ohio. It's supposed to be 40 as a high and I highly doubt it will be that warm at 5:30 for the ceremony. What the freak do I even wear to that?! I'm kinda peeved that there will be zero warmth besides *maybe* a heat lamp or two. I'm a total unhappy butthole when I'm cold too. Ugh. So, any ideas besides my coat?

WTF?!?!?! Who has an outdoor wedding in the MidWest in March?!?!?! I'd wear a parka and dress with tights. And bring a blanket.

ETA: Changed the month to March instead of October...I'm so cold in my office right now that it feels like October in here!

Ughhh well that was a brainy idea. Definitely wear a coat. I'd also do gloves with HotHands inside. Is the reception indoors at least? Do you have to go to the ceremony?

I'm in Chicago and we had about 3 inches of snow this morning and it's still coming down. I'd say dress like you're going skiing...

In all seriousness, get a pair of fleece lined tights. That's what I wear in the winter.

Pants, and a sweater. And cuddle duds that can be removed when you get indoors....and your coat, mittens, and a hat.

No Rosie, it's all outdoors sadly. They honestly could have picked any month, it's at her parents property and they built this pavilion for their wedding as well as to start renting it out as a wedding venue.

OMG That's horrible. Is the reception outside too? I'd dress for warmth over being cute. I hate being cold. I'd probably wear pants, with tights underneath, with a sweater plus hat, coat, and gloves. If there's any wind it'll feel a lot colder than 40 degrees.

Those people are insane. Their guests are going to freeze!

Is the reception inside at least?

You can wear nice/dressy pants with a sweater. And like Charla said-- wear tights underneath (or long johns).

No it is all outside. I have a feeling we won't stay long. FH's been battling a cold too so I really don't want to be outside.

Sounds like long johns are the way to go! Thanks ladies! And I'm glad I'm not the only one who think they're crazy!

Omg, terrible idea... We were at an outdoor wedding in July and it was rainy and 60, and even that was miserable. Maybe they'll really amp it up with heat lamps? Good luck. I'd do pants with fleece lined tights underneath, cute boots and 4 or 5 sweaters...

That is ridiculously rude. Long johns, long sleeve t under a sweater, pants and those foot warmer things you put in your shoes. And a parka. And a hat. And mittens.

I wouldn't go to be honest! How horrible! I hate being cold and standing/sitting out in the cold for a wedding ceremony is horrible!

Some people are so inconsiderate of theirs guests...

Nice pants with knee high socks underneathe for extra warmth Smiley smile A nice shirt with with a nice sweater over, so (hopefully the reception is indoors!!!) at the reception you can take off the sweater if it is warm. And you will not be taking your jacket off. It's too cold. They should have expected that. Maybe even bring those instant hand heat packs to get some extra warmth. Try not to arrive too early. You're going to be cold. And it's going to suck. Sorry :/

WHAT THE FUDGE!!! It's ALL outdoors?! Even the reception?! I would have RSVP'd no, to be honest. But just show up for the ceremony and leave shortly into the reception. This is all just a disaster. I guess just wear pants and a heavy sweater, but long johns under everything, as well. You won't be taking off your jacket for a minute. Gosh that sounds miserable. Sorry Smiley sad

Please keep us updated, if you survive the frost bite at the wedding, that is.

Having a late march outdoor wedding in TEXAS was a smidge of a gamble for us (its kinda looking like it might work out ok, but thats beside the point!).

I would seriously dress warm. To hell with looking nice.
