outdoor brides...show me shoes! :)

Kristen, on June 17, 2012 at 3:25 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25

So i am lost when it comes to shoes. i am having an outdoor ceremony and reception, but would like a pretty shoe. i guess that means a wedge, but not really sure what to go with. this pic is one idea...what do you think? what are you wearing? or what are your ideas? i thought maybe a thicker heel would help on a platform, but not sure if that would sink in the grass too

You don't have to only stick with wedges! You can buy these--thesolemates.com

I learned about them from a friend that got married outside last year.

These are my shoes--sorry I don't know how to post photos. Ladies--how do you do that? I am getting married outside as well. Those shoes are fab, if you go with them! Linda--yours are too! They look like they would be fairly comfy!

@ Courtney...to post a pic, click browse button under your comment and select which pic you want. Have you used those solemates before? Do they work well? I love the shoes I posted a pic of but I don't have them yet (they are 100&dollarSmiley winking. I went looking for wedges today and couldn't find any I like as well.

@ Emily...very cute. Our ceremony and recep are all outdoors at our house on 5 acres with no real paths or anything to walk on. And the ground is soft.

I am getting married on the beach, so no shoes for me. But my reception is on the grounds of an event home- so I thought being barefoot was sorta hill-billy-ish. I wanted to keep it simple though, so I got these for like $12 from payless:

My sister did wedge shoes for her outdoor wedding, and they worked great! We were lucky to have a nice smooth lawn to walk on, but her payless wedges worked perfectly for everyone

    Thanks!

@Kristen - they are very tall, about a 4" heel on them. I feel like a giant and am still trying to learn how to walk on them without wobbling LOL! They are Nina's and they are pretty comfortable.

RE: Sole-mates - I thought about that but read some not-so-good reviews of them coming off when walking in the grass and one lady said they split apart after only a few minutes wear.

I'm getting married outside, but still wearing heels. Those wedges are very cute, by the way! Although the heels on mine are thick-ish, I'm still considering those SoulMates things that someone else posted, but my DOC said I should be fine. We'll see ;] haha

I love all the different shoes! Not one pair I don't like!

Can't find a good pic of my shoes, but they are born's and are a silver/gold metallic flat with three flowers along the toe and outside of the foot. I love them!

    Kristen,

I have not tried them yet (They are only 9.95...you could totally test a pair beforehand!) But the girls at my friends wedding had a ton of grass to walk on and they didn't sink in! I've heard good things!

Here is a link to mine (they are in the rosy blush color not the black). I had to go with flats sadly, but I found the PERFECT ones. These are so me...little touch of vintage.

Trust me, you really can wear WHATEVER shoe you want--I had 4.5" heels for an outside wedding on a hillside.... when you think about it, all you need to do is walk down the isle; the rest is mostly standing! Here is a photo of my shiny shoes; they were the envy of every girl in the crowd. And of course, after the formal photos were taken, I switched to flats for comfort (also blue; I got them at PayLess for under $10). Don't let your environment limit your imagination if you want something different! Just practice walking with more weight on the front of your foot than the heel, and you should be able to make the minute or so walk down (and back up) the isle without issue Smiley smile
