WHEN YOU TYPE IN ALL CAPS, THE VOICE IN MY HEAD SCREAMS!

    .

You should do something to welcome them, even if it is just a note or some homeade cookies.

We're not getting gifts, but we are putting together 'gift bags' with things like: take-out menus - coupons, too if we can get them, map of the area, brochures from local museums, parks, etc. Things like that. It's difficult to put a gift bag together when the people coming are so diverse - from grandparents, to families, to singles. Hopefully our ideas for the bags will be helpful to the out of towner.

    That's a great idea MBM!

I saw a bunch of super cheap OOT guest bags, let me see if I can dig up the link somewhere...

I love to bake though, so I'll probably do something similar to MBM but bake my famous cookies and put some of those in there too! ;0)

I do like the idea of homemade cookies... very much actually. EVERYONE loves cookies!! And you can make them (and freeze them) ahead of time. I do that for Christmas cookies every year.

@Analy - MINE TOO, I was even doing it as I read your post about your "head voice" screaming.

We're doing them, I'm not sure what will be in them since it's the one thing my mom has offered to do! I would suggest it though. The reason my mom decided to take it over was b/c she received a "welcome bag" as an OOT guest at a recent wedding. She said it really did make her feel welcome and was useful.

So I didn't find the site I had before, but if you want bags that are SUPER cheap and don't care about great quality... www.cheaptotes.com they have different sizes/colors as low as like .59 cents each or something like that. Not sure on shipping... They also sell transfer paper if you want to make your own design then iron it on the totes later.

Jessa- if they are staying in a hotel, it would be left in the room. If it's not far enough for that, and they are driving home, no need.
