Our wedding venue just canceled our wedding

Our wedding venue canceled our wedding. NOT BECAUSE OF COVID. They said they would work with my planners. And they decided they didn't like my ideas or the planners and straight-up CANCELED our wedding! They were super shady about all these hidden add-ons. They have been rude and unprofessional the whole time. I am heartbroken

    What does your contract say about cancellations? The contract is there to protect both of you in case either party cannot or will not uphold their half of the agreement.

    Wow!! I am so sorry this happened to you! Did you happen to sign a contract with them? Go over it VERY carefully and see what it says about their cancellations! How unprofessional of them. I highly recommend spreading the word and posting on yelp, google, etc. on how you had a horrible experience with them. Hopefully it'll help other brides steer clear of this place!

    Melissa I am shocked this venue would do such a thing, especially with so many venues hoping to keep weddings these days! I am so sorry!! Agree with previous posts as well. I have faith you and your fiancé will find a better venue ❤️❤️❤️

    So the contract was not broken. The way she canceled the event was outlined in the contract. Normally you don't get your deposit back (per the contract) but she really didn't want to deal with us so she gave it back. My planners said they are unfortunately not surprised with behavior she has previously displayed.

    I am so so sorry for you! Sounds like a very one-sided contract that did not give you any protection and an extremely unprofessional vendor!



    Was this vendor on WW or somewhere else online where you can post a review to warn others of her behavior? I definitely would want forwarning if I was dealing with her that she has done this to another bride before!

    I was already drafting another response before I saw this one. I'm glad you were able to at least get your deposit back. Was there at least some elaboration on why she cancelled? Was it really just because she didn't like your ideas? I hope you're able to find another place that has your date available, and you'll have better luck with them.

    Well that'd dumb! I can't imagine a legit reason why any venue would rudely say "We just don't want to deal with your wedding." Wowza... I know you are sad, upset, stressed right now but think of it like this:

    No need to spend your happy day with such rude and unprofessional behavior. I am so glad you got your deposit back and I KNOW you will find a much more suited and professional venue. Spread the word too, no other brides and grooms should have to deal with this either. No couple should waste their time on that.

    Yea this sounds very off and sketchy.... Especially in COVID times I feel like venues are desperate to make all the money up they lost. What are the reviews like on this venue? It's better it happened now and not a day or two before your actual wedding. Sometimes one door closes for another to open.
