For our minimony we had open bar/bring your own and we will have open bar for our big wedding in March 2021. We want our guest to have a good time and drink as much as they'd like without having to come out of their pockets for anything. Besides, to us, who doesn't like unlimited FREE drinks? lol

What about you guys? I'm eager to see what everyone else is doing or have done for their wedding!

The venue will have other hard alcohol but the guests will have to pay for that. We’ll provide around 6-10 beers to choose from, Malibu & Coke, fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade (thanks to my step sister), coffee, tea & various sodas. I’m thinking that’s plenty. I definitely want our guests to have a great time. If my FH wants to provide another signature drink, he’ll probably bring it up soon.

Yes- mostly beer drinkers or don’t drink at all. I’m not sure there are any wine drinkers but to be on the safe side I’m gonna bring in a few bottles. I have no idea on wine (neither does FH) so I’m going bring my daughter to help with that.

We had an open bar at our rehearsal dinner and wedding! It was important to us to host our guests well. I’ve never been to a wedding with a cash bar but I have been to dry weddings and neither of those were a good fit for us.

We are getting married next October and this is a big debate for us.

My family suggested to have unlimited beer and wine (that we would supply) plus a signature Mr. and Mrs. drink (again, we would supply).

My fiancé though wants an open bar (but it would only be open to an extent because we would be supplying the alcohol for our bartender and our bartender would be able to say enough is enough to guests.

    Thoughts?

I would go with the open bar UNLESS your guests are mainly beer and wine drinkers. If they are then I don't see the problem with having only 2 signature drinks otherwise I would give the guests more options. Me personally, I like wine and I don't drink beer at all but I would rather have liquor. So I think this is a "know your guest" type thing.

Ours is BYOB which really cuts down on our costs. Now if we had a lot of big drinkers in our family I would do open bar. However, since really only like half are big drinkers then I don't have to buy quite as much alcohol.

So are you providing any of the alcohol or leaving it up to your guest to bring their own?

We are providing it I figured BYOB was the same across the board oops. Even if that was an option to let the guests bring their own I couldn't do that. They are taking the time out and money to come and see us get married the least I can do is provide the booze lol.

My fiance and I both knew we'd be having an open bar lol. Our bridal party are big drinkers, I am known as the bartender of our group and our family loves wine and beer so it was definitely a must have for us lol.

We are having an open bar for cocktail hour and 4 hours of our reception with the last hour of our reception being consumption bar with only beer and wine available. Knowing our crowd we figured 5 hours of full open bar and ending the night with only beer and wine would work for our group and save us money on the additional cost of an additional full open hour.

We're doing a cash bar, I don't want a free-for-all drunken mess, so if people have to buy their own drinks, hopefully they'll be a bit less likely to overindulge.
